It was great to see the Boney M featuring Liz Mitchell was amazing. Right from the beginning. All the Boney M hits were played. Those on the floor went wild dancing. Couple of kids also went up on stage to dance with the group. I would recommend this for a awesome night out.
Short show only 90 minutes, after only about an hour could sense they were already heading towards wrapping it up. The classics were what we expected. Love kids, but having them on the stage prevented the headliners from putting on a stage show during their biggest hit.
They were everything I expected and more and just wish it was a longer show.
I saw Boney M December 1978 @Brighton Centre England. Have wanted to see them again. Fantastic. Her voice is as good as ever. I felt like a teenager again!
It was a disco Friday night at the Grey Eagle Casino in Calgary on September 22/17 as Boney M featuring the original lead singer Liz Mitchell played to a full house. We all danced, sang along and cheered as hit after hit was covered by this version of the group. With 3 female back up singers ( 2 being Liz Mitchell nieces) and the wild male singer, well, actually the dancer, the songs sounded very much like the original version. Liz's voice is still very strong and powerful. Liz spoke frequently between songs and was quite responsive to the crowd. After the openning song "Sunny", the songs kept coming, Painter Man, Hoorah, Hoorah its a Holiday, Brown Girl in the Ring, Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, a nice set of slower songs, then back to Rasputin, Rivers of Babylon, No Women, No Cry, Marys Boy Child in the encore set. A fun evening with some great music with a real music Icon, Liz Mitchell.
Less time spend on the same song and audience on stage. More songs could be done when one song lasts 10 min.
It was a dance party. Everyone was out of their seats and dancing
The show was very good, very entertraining. Very glad to be part of.
Absolutely loved some of the oldies but disappointed that the music was so loud. It drowned out the lyrics
This was pretty obviously a tribute band with Liz Mitchell added. They were not well rehearsed with Liz as the other singers looked frequently to Liz for cues on joining in on vocals or which dance moves they would be doing. Liz seemed to have a cold, which happens and is acceptable, although I wondered at times when the music was close to drowning out her vocals (not always, but often). There was about one minute of accapella singing when I heard some beautiful harmony. The male in the group was a better dancer than singer. The band was very good and I enjoyed hearing all the Boney M hits.
So much fun! Danced all night. Great atmosphere! Loved the reggae feel.
The sound was terrible. I thought being near the stage would be a good thing. All of the instruments must have been set to max output, except the bass - when he did his solo I could barely tell that he was playing. Liz Mitchell's singing was impressive and it was good to hear all the old songs. But I wish they had played at a different venue. 2 larger people sat next to me. The poor woman sat on the front edge of her seat. I gave up part of my chair to allow her to sit. Luckily she decided to dance near the stage for most of the show. Once again River Cree will be put on my no-go list. Almost a complete waste of money.
Great show and great seats- you need to be in the front part of the room to have a good view due to the layout of the hall. Boney M put out a fantastic show, involving the audience, getting some people to dance on the stage , and coming down into the audience and singing with people. Great sound, great energy and fantastic show!
Liz Mitchell brought her exuberance and talent to the stage and the crowd ate it up! Her voice may not have been as strong and clear as it was in her heyday but her delivery was authentic! The crowd adored her and serenaded her on many songs. A great musical experience!
What a fun evening , the only thing that I thought could have been better were the male vocals that was quite disappointing, the rest of the singers and the band were fabulous. I would see them again
Exceptional, good feeling to reminisce and share memories with like individuals. Security was more relaxed to allow audience participation. Liz's presence on the floor said a lot about her love for everyone. The band was very good with mixed age group. The Senior members on the wind instruments and keyboard are to be admired for their stamina, motivation, dedication and passion. Keep up the good work. Thank you for your giving me a memorable evening.
What an amazing show! The music was great. Liz still has it and she is so kind and humble. Her eyes just stream compassion. Lots of fun for everyone. We were not disappointed and hope that they come back soon❤️❤️❤️
