Once in a Lifetime Concert/Show Experience!

    by Patrick on 2022-11-17

A spectacular, intimate acoustical concert/play show by Bono to support his 'Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story' memoir, backed by cellist Kate Ellis, keyboardist-vocalist Gemma Doherty and producer Jacknife Lee on keyboards and percussion played more than a dozen U2 songs in new acoustical arrangements. Lucky to have bought a 6th row from stage orchestra seat on day of the show - incredible to observe Bono keep us spellbound from so close!

Spectacular! - Bono's Acoustical Concert & Memoir Show

by PatrickM on 2022-11-14Meridian Hall - Toronto

A once in a lifetime experience to see Bono's Nov 6th 'Stories of Surrender' concert/show at Meridan Hall in Toronto. Lucky to purchase a orchestra seat 6 rows!! from the stage on the day of the show, Bono provided a memorable 2 hour show - a theatrical play/acoustical concert centered around passages from his memoir. Bono’s voice was strong and clear performing the hits such as "Sunday, Bloody Sunday", With or Without You, “Beautiful Day,” “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “Desire.” He was humble in storytelling, whether recalling a life-saving heart surgery or recounting his weekly conversations with his father, Bob, in their local Irish pub, which continued well into the band’s success.

    Outstanding!

by Tracy on 2022-11-09Meridian Hall - Toronto

Heartwarming, at times heart wrenching, honest, witty and wise…. Bono trusts his audience with himself laid bare as a son, brother, husband, father, friend, band mate and activist through some of the songs that mean the mist to us. Thank you for sharing!

    Amazing

    by Gregzky17 on 2022-11-09Meridian Hall - Toronto

It's was magical. It was better than I imagined. The music, words and emotions from this legend telling his story through songs. It was a One Man Show and no other musical artist could've of done that.

    Excellent.

by Ed on 2022-11-09Meridian Hall - Toronto

For over 40 years Bono has been perfecting his stage show with U2, and these shows on his own (with 3 extremely talented musicians), have proven he hasn't lost it after a years long hold on performing. His stories, both humorous and sad, blended perfectly with performances of some of U2's biggest hits. The three musicians accompanying him (on cello, harp and percussion/electronics) gave new life to old favorites in surprising ways...without sounding like 'classical' instruments. Bono proves to be a masterful story teller, easily having the audience's attention from the very beginning. His performance of an opera song at the end of the show (surprisingly) left the crowd with their jaws on the floor, as he showed he's more than just a rock star.

    Incredible!

by Tim on 2022-11-09Meridian Hall - Toronto

Bono was riveting! He weaved elements of his fascinating life through story telling, play acting and breathtaking songs. His voice was outstanding! He topped it off with the most extraordinary opera performance of Torna a Surriento, (a favourite of Pavarotti's). This was very fitting, as it tied perfectly into the story he had been telling during the show, and he deserved the long standing ovation from the thrilled crowd! This was an emotionally charged experience that I will never forget! I am so thankful that I was there!
