About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

  • Boys Like Girls rocked my world!!

by Anonymous on 2009-11-16Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The bands in this tour were all fantastic! The musical combination was great and each one of the bands gave an awesome (but very different) vibe onstage. The audience was very involved with the bands and every single one of them said how much they loved Toronto!

  • Boys Like Girls Disappointed

    by Mark31 on 2009-11-16Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The Concert that Boys Like Girls put on unfortunately was not the concert that I wanted to see. It was undoubtedly entertaining, but not one of the songs were sung as they are on their album. the band attempted to liven up their songs making them harder and a heavier genre of rock. Unfortunately, thats not the type of band who Boys Like Girls are, and the result was an insincere performance that was disappointing. I would have liked to hear the emotion and softer vocals that the band displays on the album.

"Boys Like Girls" enough said... I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT ! yeah sure, i got squished by all the fans, but hey! i dont care at all, i got to stand 10 feet away from PAUL DIGIOVANNI! ♥ they are also AMAZING live, usually that doesn't happen. This concert has definitely changed my opinion on what my favourite band is.. as of last night, BOYS LIKE GIRLS has taken first :) I would go see this show again without even thinking about it! All I can say is, Boys like girls... look out for me at your show in MARCH :)♥

  • Boys Like Girls Concert = amazing!

The concert was great! Cobra Starship had an infectious energy and got the whole crowd really involved. They were by far the best act of the night. They put on a great show and anyone who's thinking of seeing them on tour, definitely do it if you get the chance. Boys Like Girls also did a great job and played all the fan favourites.

After a 4 hours of driving to the Kool Haus and about 2 hours waiting in line with all the screaming teenage girls we got into the venue just as Versa Emerge was playing. I had never seen them live although I love her voice on A Day to Remembers song "If it Means A Lot To You." They had a lot of energy and she could sure sing, they put on a great performance. At the start the crowd was not into it with many failed crowd surfing attempts. A Rocket to the Moon was next, I saw them in Montreal in the Summer and thought they were absolutely terrible and their singer could not hit half the notes. As soon as they hit the stage they started with an AC/DC classic "They Shook me All Night Long", I have to say they impressed me by improvment. The singer Nick Santino was hitting every note although he could put more energy into his live performance. They played some songs I knew and the crowd really enjoyed them that after I saw a fair amount of people heading back to their merch table. The Maine came on next. They entered to a black out with a bass driven sample to get the crowd ready. They played the first couple notes of "I Must Be Dreaming" then the lights went on and the crowd just screamed (mostly the teenage girls at the sight of John Ohh) After "I Must be Dreaming" They played an old Def Leppard track "Pour Some Sugar On Me." They continued to play their set with "Everything I Ask For", "The Way We Talk" "Into Your Arms." Then they played an "old" song that they never put on their CD called "Life Life This" They ended the night with "Girls Do What They Want." At the bridge two guys were crowd surfing and the singer John called them up on the stage to sing with him. Cobra Starship was next. I usually don't like them so I didn't really watch them all that much, but when I did they impressed me. They have amazing stage presence and for the kind of band that they are really sounded good. Again, I can't really review on them. Boys Like Girls finally was on to end the night. They opened with a Black Eyed Peas cover of "Ive Got A Feelin'" then hit it right into "Love Drunk." As the show went on I paid close attention to their drummer, he is really talented and I think was holding that whole show together, I found the singer didn't sound the same and was missing some notes. They had pretty good stage presence but it seemed like they looked bored. I left halfway through the set because I, myself was bored of their show. All in all I think what made this show for me was the opening bands!

my daughter, who watched the event and participated in the VIP package to meet the band was, and still is, in heaven. Her immediate feedback was "I can die happy, I am so content right now, that was the best show ever". It doesn't get much better than that from a teenager

  • More Meet N' Greet

by MsPilsener on 2009-11-16Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great, all the bands put on an awesome show. But we were a bit disappointed in the meet n' greet with Boys Like Girls though ... waited in line for a very long time, only to be rushed through one quick photo. Had brought an item to be signed (as instructed by a previous e-mail) but there was no signing opportunity. Also no chance to just say HI to the band or ask them a quick question. Signed posters were great, but no where to put them for the rest of the night - would have preferred to have them mailed along with the rest of the missing VIP stuff.

All in all the concert was a great experience! the bands were AMAZING, and they got on and off the stage never leaving us bored. it was a great night. the only thing i wouldve asked for is directions for the meet and greet. many of us showed up that had bought special tickets and were told to just stand in line with everyone else, when we had no idea what we were supposed to be doing. I also felt that the vip shouldve got a change to have the better spots on the floor, but i understand sometimes thats not possible. one thing i know for sure, i would go back to see ALL of those bands. BOYS LIKE GIRLS WERE AMAZING.

  • Great show! BLG!

by MikeyWiz on 2009-07-17The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

That was a concert i will soon not forget. I just saw Boys Like Girls, NeverShoutNever, and the ready set. They were all fantastic, but i only went to see one band. Boys Like Girls. First i would like to point out two things. 1st, thing they are much better in small venues. At the end of the show they asked people to come up stage so you better get close. 2nd, the lead singer, Martin Johnson, tends to swear a bit so don't be surprised. If a parent is reading this most of the clubs they prform in have balconies so instead of having to wait in the merch room reading emails. You can drink a beer and sit in the balcony away from sweaty jumping kids. I would say that Boys like girls is a wonder on stage as in they jump around interact with each other and even do a stage dive. All in all it was a great concert and i suggest going. See ya!

  • the best night !

by blgfan on 2009-07-17The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Really good show with lots of energy and great music. It was very crowded, but the show the bands put on made up for it!

  • Too much foul language for an all ages concert

by TaySah on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I gave the concert a poor rating however I would like to say that the first 2 bands were amazing.... as a mother of twin 14 year old girls I totally thought the music from the first 2 bands was fantastic....however Boys like Girls need to cut out the foul language. This was suppose to be an all ages event and as a parent I didn't appreciate the language. I understand that kids hear that all the time however the foul language was really excessive. There were a few of us parents in the back and we were all discusted, even the 2 security guys in the back couldn't believe the language. I think that in the future any Boys like Girls venues should post that there is excessive foul language so parents can make that judgement call themselves whether or not they bring or allow their teenagers to go to their concerts.

  • An EPIC Night!!!

by gnrforever on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Boys Like Girls Concert was the best concert I have ever been to! Both Boys Like Girls and the opening bands (Nevershoutnever and Ready Set) were so captivating! If you have never been to a concert before or even if you've been to a million concerts, go to see BLG, they will blow your mind! It was just awesome!!

  • Boys Like Girls was good.

by Lyshee on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Boys Like Girls were headlining the show and the two band before hand were The Ready Set and Never Say Never. I personally think Never Say Never stole the show. He was great, he really interacted with the audience and did something completely different from any other show I have been to. It was great the audience loved it! Boys Like Girls warmed up to the crowd later on when during their encore they invited all the fans on stage with them, and for the remaining fans in the crowd, he then did a stage dive. Overall, not a bad performance, can't wait for some more new Boys Like Girls it was great!

  • Epic Concert

by Ally123 on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The doors opened at 6:30pm, my friend and I were there at 11am, and were close to the front. The band members would walk around here and there so you always had something to do. Inside the concert theatre it was really small and no air conditioning, but when the music starts playing you forget all about that. There was a really handy bar right beside the crowds of people, that was selling pop and water. Certain merch items sold out super quick. After the concert you could go outside and talk to the musicians and get their autograph. Every band member I talked to was very nice and down-to-earth. Best concert yet!
