  • Best Sax Player Ever!

by cjmil on 2009-07-18Jack Singer Concert Hall (ECPA) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

we waited almost four months from the time we ordered our tickets, to the time we actually saw the show. But was it ever worth it. Branford and his Quartet were unreal. One of the best concerts I have seen in a long time. The Jack Singer is a great venue for Jazz and the accoustics were phenomenal. I would recommend any and all Jazz lovers to make sure they don't miss Branford Marsalis when he returns to Calgary!

  • One of the best shows I've seen

by Blondy on 2009-07-17Jack Singer Concert Hall (ECPA) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to a lot of shows in my life. From Dave Brubeck to Chick Corea, from Miles Davis to Buddy Rich, from Robin Ford to Frank Zappa. I thought Branford was right up there with the best. The drummer and keybord players were phenominal and clearly had fun on the stage. The music was great and the energy from the band was second to none. A top notch production I would recommend to anyone, jazz lover or not.

Branford does not miss a note, he is on cue every time, a true professional.

Great entertaining evening. A fun group. The opening act was good, and Branford Marsalis and his boys just really showed us how its done. Fantastic show.

  • The whole evening was ACE!

by Mgb1966ca on 2009-07-17Jack Singer Concert Hall (ECPA) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

From the first cord of the opening act to the final note of the encore the evening was remarkable. Not only was it a truly talented group of individuals playing but so versed in their knowledge of the music nothing seemed rehearsed or canned yet was played to perfection. Highly recommend seeing this performer and his backup band to any who enjoy true JAZZ.

Fantastic show, each of his musicians were terrific and the young drummer was a joy to watch. I could have listened all night. They were so great and made it look so easy.

Great Concert. All the musicians were extremely professional. I have seen Wynton and the father Ellis . It was wonderful seeing Brantford. I was particularly moved by the encore presentation of St Louis Blues with Brantford playing the soprano sax. Thanks
