Just loved it!! Music was fantastic and the story was so interesting.
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening; the singers/actors were so entertaining and played and sang all their parts so well. But the guy who played Buddy Holly was absolutely fantastic - he sounded so much like Buddy Holly, and played a mean electric guitar. The whole show was so engaging and told you the story of Buddy Holly (and the Crickets), and just built up as it went along, until the last big scene where we felt like we were actually at the last concert.. So fantastic! Bravo to all involved in the production.
This was a really fun night. Great music and band. The other characters on stage played their parts well and got the audience involved.
The show was very upbeat, singing was excellent - Buddy especially!
Was a fantastic show with great music and performed by a very talented cast. Enjoyed it as much as Jersey Boys!
I thoroughly enjoyed the show, however if it were to be true to the era the background music would not have been so loud. It sometimes over shadowed the singing.
when I look back, the show was about buddy's life as a musician. that it was. once they got by his early days , the concerts momentum picked up and left no one disappointed . it just got better . it became very high energy and i'm sure every one went home knowing they were given their monies worth. we did ! we would go again.
We are die-hard Buddy Holly fans. We do NOT like imitations. But this show had us on the edge of our seats all night long. The singing was fantastic! Seamless set changes kept the entire night interesting. Our accolades to the entire group. "Buddy" himself was spectacular! And the Jube is always a wonderful venue. Worth every penny!
We purchased the tickets because we appreciate the music of Buddy Holly but we both walked away saying, "Wow, what a fantastic show!!!" We are so grateful we went and would have been sorry to have missed this opportunity! We went to another musical at the Edmonton Jubilee only a few nights before and we enjoyed it, but this was a true 5+ star production. The young fellow that played Buddy Holly was an incredibly talented young man, he was truly amazing.... I don't recall seeing someone play a guitar like that, he was that good! At the end of the show he shared a few words with the audience, such a delightful young man. It was a fun evening out! Worth every penny without a doubt!
A very musically talented group! Enjoyed the show and the music very much!
Enjoyed the first half and the person playing Buddy did a great job, but i found the second half bad. Did not care for all the "fillers" Like the cheer leader singing or the quartet. Found that really bad and brought the show down. Got to the point when I was glad when the show was over and that should not happen.
It was a great show! At the beginning they only played a line or two of each song but as the evening progressed they started doing complete songs which was great!
I gave tickets to my parents for Christmas (they're in their 70's). They really enjoyed the show! Apparently Dad knew every song and Mom knew more than she thought she would! They had a great experience!
The sound was absolutely awful. Low volume with an echo. Hard to pick up the singers and speakers voices. A few mishaps as it was opening night but could have been a great show if the sound was improved.
Having seen the show in London, England many years ago we were eager to see this one. However, it was not of the same calibre either musically or staging wise. A bit amateurish in places. Obviously we were spoilt by the fabulous show in London and had too high expectations on this one. They were dancing in the aisles in London but not in Toronto. Sound quality in Toronto left a lot to be desired. So not the greatest Buddy show but if you like Rock and Roll and Buddy Holly’s music in particular it is worth going to if you can get discounted tickets. Otherwise no, it would not have been worth full price.
The show overall was super, kept you interested the whole way thru the show, lots of interaction. I would see it again for sure!
Show was unbelievable, but there was no program and the actors were not introduced so I have no idea who they are
My wife & I attended this Show on the 21st & this was one of the most entertaining & energized show we have seen this year.. I don't know the name of the person who starred as Buddy BUT STAR he did...He epitomized Buddy in appearance, in movements and especially in voice....The entire group of guys who were Buddy Holly & The Crickets have truly immortalized Holly & the Crickets....He was truly Holly in reincarnate & personification...This was truly an OUTSTANDING Show & PERFORMANCE.. The sad thing about this Show was it was just a one night show, if this show had a couple of weeks run we would have attended it at least a 2nd time....This Show should have had a longer run...It was pure entertainment and absolutely amazing....Like I said Buddy in reincarnate....Thanks at least for this one GREAT night for this wonderful Show....
The Buddy Holly Story 2017 version is great. The cast play many roles and the man playing Buddy does a really good job. Totally recommend to all rock and roll fans. Had standing ovation at the end then the entire cast came out and sang a couple more songs
I have seen 'The Story' about nine times over 25 years, in six cities, so I've been around! because they are a moving (daily) road show, they cannot travel with full stage sets or large casts where building 'walls' can be lowered from ceiling etc.. ( only 14 performers, here - I have seen 17 often - bigger musical back ups.) There were 21 on stage for the 'finale' in Peterborough! "Maria Elena' was too old for that part, but 'Valens' was spot on!
