About

In 2012, rap legend Busta Rhymes made a triumphant return to the game with two Grammy nominations for "Look At Me Now," his chart-topping collaboration with young R&B star Chris Brown. Rhymes continued to assert his preeminence on the Superstars of Hip Hop Tour in 2013, delivering songs like "Kill Dem" and "Respect My Conglomerate" with his signature machine gun speed and entertaining ticket buyers with his outré style and seizure-inspired dance moves. Since signing with Cash Money Records in 2011, Rhymes has been busier than ever, releasing a spate of successful singles including "Twerk It" featuring Nicki Minaj from his 2014 album E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2).

Rhymes's idiosyncratic style suits his Jamaican heritage and Brooklyn upbringing. After signing to Elektra Records at Just 17, Rhymes found himself collaborating with the biggest names in the industry, gaining notoriety for his impressive verses on tracks by A Tribe Called Quest, Boyz II Men, and Mary J. Blige. In 1995, director John Singleton cast Rhymes in the film Higher Learning, but the following year would prove the most pivotal in his rise to stardom.  His 1996 debut album The Coming was an overnight success, landing at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and earning Rhymes his breakout hit with "Woo-Hah!! (Got You All in Check)," which was accompanied by one of the most iconic music videos of the decade. He would go on to release seven more Top 10 albums throughout the '90s and 2000's, including The Big Bang in 2006, his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Rhymes continues to bring his outrageous style, leftfield wit and virtuoso delivery to his live performances, building anticipation for his live concerts in support of 2014's E.L.E.2 (Exctinction Level Event 2).

  • Busta Rhymes had rhymes galore!

by Casson on 2009-08-30The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Busta Rhymes did not come on until well after the 10 o'clock goal. That's the only knock on the whole show. With a packed house, Busta ran through his catalogue of hits for well over an hour. He captivated the audience from minute one until minute none. Hit after hit aftet hit! His close friend Spliff Star was by his side for the whole show. What a great team! Busta got intimate with the crowd when he told them that he had been spending time in Toronto since he was five years old. As it turns out, he has an aunt who has been a Canadian resident for over 42 years! Busta warned the crowd that he will be back before his career is over. I'll be there too.

all musical acts tour their new material, but there is more to a concert than standing in front of an audience with your instruments and playing songs. busta rhymes gets this. he understands showmanship, is spectacle and puts on a superb live performance. it helps that his catalog of music is gigantic but it is his energy that makes each song incredible. if you have the opportunity to witness this event in person, take it, nuff said!

  • wonderful night out

    by TiffanyAndr3ws on 2009-08-19Rylys Nightclub - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

The opening acts were a bit to long, and too many. There was 9 0 nickel, Peter Jackson, Belly & DJ Fresh. I think if one group would have opened, it would have been plenty. I was a little bit dissapointed to see that Busta did not come out til the very end... and I mean VERY end. The bar was near closing before Busta took to the stage. Though he did perform like nobody's business. From old school to new school. I was quite impressed with how the whole audience was involved. There was an unforgettable energy in the entire place. WOW.

  • Awesome Times!

I think this venue was great for this concert. Blush was the perfect setting for a really personal kind of experience. The whole crew touring with Busta was fantastic. Belly was really great and I definately enjoyed Peter Jackson. Busta and Flip Mode themselves put on a crazy time and the crowd was insane for everything they did. This was hands down one of the best events I've been to in a long time.

  • Busta was worth the money

When i heard the venue for the Busta Rhymes concert got moved to a nightclub i was a bit apprehensive at first because i assumed it would mean a less quality show. I was mistaken, it was amazing! Busta and his opening act, Belly, put on a great show and the crowd was great. He played all his greatest hits and i dont think anyone could say he didnt play everything they wanted. Well worth the money, i would definitely go again!

  • Worth the Wait

Busta Rhymes was great once he showed up! The event started at about 9 pm (was supposed to start at 7 pm) with the opening acts starting first. Busta Rhymes started at about 12:30 - 1 am. While I enjoyed the show, it was a really late start and he played for less than an hour. My 4 star rating would have been 5 if the show was not so late to start. Busta Rhymes himself was awesome. Lots of fun to watch. Very entertaining :)
