  • A Spectacular Country Music Event

    by wkuhn53438 on 2013-09-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time my wife and I had the opportunity to attend any large scale, world class awards event. Being fans of Country Music this event was twice the excitement. Here wasa first rate performance, from both current artists and up-and-coming artists. The stage setting was elaborate, providing a terrific bacground to all the acts and speakers. What a great night! PLUS We could go home and watched the home Television recording of the evening.

Was very good, definitely would like to go back next year. Sound was a bit high but was still good.

  • CCMA

by Golde on 2013-09-13Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Music was good. Danny Hooper was great! Why can't people just sit down and enjoy the show. Commercials breaks are not that long. Why was there no Host/Hosts? Expected to be entertained by them at commercial time. Good to see in person once if you have never done it. But watching back the recording was just as good. Sound when Emerson Drive came on ???????????

  • Better on TV!

by Anonymous on 2013-09-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

Very disappointed with the CCMA event live. Obviously the priority was the TV production as the sound mix for those attending live was terrible. We could hear vocals and almost nothing else. There was no large screens to allow people to see the action close up (just the tiny rexall screens that were tucked up in the roof. There was also nothing happening during the commercial breaks to hold interest. Not worth buying tickets to attend live! Will watch on TV next year.

  • Dean Brody was awesome!

by Cark on 2013-09-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Wished more country artists had performed rather than bringing in 3 American acts! Loved the Band Perry but one from the US would have been sufficient!

  • GREAT!

    by chicky48 on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The CCMA's were outstanding. We have been at a number of them over the years and this was by far the best performance. The stage was great, the performers did a bang up job. The venue was perfect and the sound was incredible. We are very pleased that the awards will be in Edmonton again next year!

  • Better at home to watch CCMAs

by Kikikenis on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I was really excited to be part of a crowd that loved all kinds of country music, only to be surprised by nobody standing up, being on their "best" behaviour, and squinting to see what was happening on stage. The bands were great, lots of variety, but the commercial breaks they had were just empty space for us to wait in line for more food at the concessions. The show was only two hours long, and I was expecting it to be MUCH longer. I paid a lot to have seats close to the back, and honestly, I think seeing it on TV would have been more worth my while, and definitely worth my money.

  • CCMA's were..decent?

    by bella44 on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I think my expectations were too high. It was a fine show with lots of artists I enjoy, the drawback was that our seats didn't offer a good view of the stage despite being on the floor. The distance between rows was zilch, and we couldn't see over the heads in front of us. The artists were good, the show lasted a comfortable length of time. It was not interactive like many concerts I've been to, but I suppose that is to be expected since it was an awards ceremony and was broadcasted on tv.

Music/sound was good, however the commercial breaks were plenty and boring. Could of used a host to entertain during commercials. Even show them on the big screen. Main issue we had is the lighting rack was completely blocking our view of the big screen so we basically went there to listen and only watch from afar. Got more out of the show watching from home. One star on seat relating due to this point.

    by shrek55 on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The award show was Average the green carpet was disorganized no bleachers or screen in venue, they said sit down by 4.45 or else yet people still came in where were the ushers too not let them in too bad have some manners live TV! THE Announcer great voice not so fuuny! Rexall need some railings we watched many people struggle walking to there seats. The variety of artists was Great, they need some screens all in all Average Next year you still have time for improvements. Lame Terry Clark wasnt there to receive her Award

  • CCMA

by Countrychik on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

Too many stops for taping commercials, uncomfortable, not enough entertainment. Seemed low budget

  • CCMA a must see for any country music fan!!

by Anonymous on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

First time at an award event and I will definately be attending in the future. Stage was impressive, content/speeches and tv breaks were quick. The music and sound was fantastic. It was like being at a concert!!

  • CMA Awards

  • The best together is sweet!

by SUEZEEQ on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Super great to see so many of Canada's great artists in one place at one time. A mini concert as it were. Too bad for the artists that they had to be stuck with a hand or stand held microphone system - come on Canada, step it up. The sound was quite good for an arena. I don't think it would take much to keep the entertainment coming for the commercial breaks though - at the very least, could have had the comedian continue through for continued momentum.

  • Bring Back the MC!

by Deadair on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Music was good, however they need to have a MC to entertain the crowd during commercials. What ever happened to Paul Brandt. He was a great MC. Danny Hooper was very good prior to the show, but they should have kept him for the whole show. Bring Back the MC!

  • Why American?

by Sanstrobl on 2013-09-11Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great show except for one problem. Why does Canadian Country music always feel the need to include American acts? And this year there was 3. Don't get me wrong , I very much enjoyed those acts, but when I buy tickets to the CCMA , I expect to see Canadian performers. We have many talented entertainers - Johnny Reid, Carolyn Dawn Johnson , Jimmy Rankin, Corb Lund , Hey,Romeo- that all should have performed. They were good enough to announce but not perform??? I am always disapponted with this aspect of the show. No one buys tickets to the CCMA hoping to see American performances. Otherwise , great show
