What an amazing event! What a privilege to see Carol live on stage! I am now on the lookout for the original full episodes - I do hope someone out there has the Carol Burnett Shows published on DVD.

    Marvelous Carol

by rebel on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Carol Burnett is an incredible woman. She is one classy lady! She looks wonderful for her 76 years, was well dressed, poised, articulate and funny. She addressed every question posed to her by members of the audience and asked their names so that she could address them properly. It was a most entertaining show. Only one negative comment, a comfortable chair should have been provided for her right from the start.

    Carol Burnett Laughter and Reflection

by Julesy1961 on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

It was amazing to see Carol Burnett in person. She was absolutely charming, witty and funny as she has always been. My fondest memory as a child watching Carol Burnett was the fact that my sister and I were allowed to stay up until Carol Burnett was over which was at that time way past our bed time. I didn't get a chance to thank her for that but I sure wanted to. My only wish is that her show would come out on CD so I could watch it whenever I needed a good laugh and time to reminise. To see the skits, to be up close to Carol Burnett was a dream come true for me.

    Stuck on 70's Icons!!!

by Paula on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

It was a nostalgic walk down memory lane. Carol is still going strong and listening to her behind the scene stories was both entertaining and enlightening. It was heart warming to see how she is so loved by generations of fans. I would definitely recommend this event to a friend!!!!

    An Evening of Reminices

by Autocat on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Carol was her old self - funny, witty and down right charming! Listening to her tell stories from her years in the entertainment business were well worth the price of the ticket.

    Carol Burnett Laughter & Reflection

by Larry on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

The questions asked by members of the audience were quite basic and not that interesting or even intellegient. The conversation was not as stimulationg as it could have been. Overall, it was quite disappointing.

    Carol Burnett: Laughter & Reflection

    by andyb86 on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

In comedy, try as you might, sometimes the most meticulously prepared sketch can’t quite live up to the spontaneous, off-the-cuff humour that can seemingly creep up out of nowhere. That was often true on The Carol Burnett Show, when Burnett would “bump up the lights” and take questions from the audience. Sure, such sketches as “Went With the Wind” or Nora Desmond were brilliant, but it was Burnett’s ability to provide quick and witty responses to some peculiar audience questions that made for some of the most memorable television. With that premise Burnett has been touring with the show “Laughter & Reflection,” where fans of all ages get to ask the TV icon anything. The laughter rarely let up during the 90 minute show at Toronto’s Massey Hall which seemed to fly by. Burnett was asked all sorts of questions about her legendary career, including working with Elizabeth Taylor in the 1983 HBO movie, Between Friends. “She was a hoot,” said Burnett. So much so that the two legends have been friends ever since. One of the funniest stories Burnett told was of filming reshoots on Annie. She had to redo part of one of the film’s musical numbers from the point where she walks out of a closet. That sounded simple enough, but Burnett had recently had a chin implant. Worried about upsetting the film’s director, John Huston, she told him she’d be walking out of the closet with a chin. Without missing a beat he told her to walk out “looking determined.” The most emotional part of the evening came when Burnett paid tribute to her Carol Burnett Show co-star, Harvey Korman. “He made me better,” Burnett said. “He was like a brother to me.” Four decades after the premiere of The Carol Burnett Show, for many Burnett has come to feel like family. With “Laughter & Reflection” Burnett gave her fans an incredible evening that we won’t soon forget. Perhaps most of all she reminded us that there is a huge void of intelligent humour on television, one that isn’t likely to be filled anytime soon. Not unless there is another Carol Burnett out there, but that hardly seems likely…

    Not worth the amount paid!

by Mary34 on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

No disrespect to Ms Burnett, but the amount of money spent on the tickets did not reflect the value I received from her show. I appreciated the trip down memory lane with the vignettes of the Carol Burnett show, but I paid quite a bit of money to see a montage of clips. People from the audience did ask questions, but only the ones near the people holding the microphones got the chance. Ms Burnett had her funny moments, but it was actually kind of boring. I was in the middle of this 1 1/2 half hour show saying to myself "I am bored and why did I spend $100 for this?!" I went to see the Britney Spear's Circus tour and for a $70 ticket got to hear Britney put on a show along with all her costume changes and circus performers and also I saw Pussycat Dolls to boot....all for $70! Britney obviously spent many funds to evolve that show. That was value. Carol Burnett with the "memories" show was sad, boring and disappointing. No money was really spent as set was simple but I also thought why is Ms Burnett doing this at age 76? Now I think, with the simple set, simple concept and regurgitated montages, my thought was she needed money badly for something. I wish I could get my money back.

    At home with Carol Burnett

by Suntraveller on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

Honestly, I felt like I was once again sitting in my livingroom so many years ago now, watching the Carol Burnett show. She took me right back there the moment she took the stage, and from the comments around me, that feeling was shared amongst the sold out show. Burnett made it a very personal evening with everyone in the audience as photos and clips and explanations of the antics of Harvey Korman (aka Hedley Lamar) and Tim Conway (aka Mr. Tudball) splashed up on the screen. All too familiar laughter of scenes remembered. The evening definitely echoed why her television show was so successful. Effortlessly connecting with her audience is Burnett’s greatest asset. “You’re gonna be my partner tonight,” she informed the audience. I thought the venue selected was perfect. Burnett was bright, funny, totally in love with her audience as much as they were in love with her. “I was blessed, absolutely blessed,” she adds in reference to the quality and number of guest stars on her show. It easily could have applied to the evening and was a sentiment the audience contentedly confirmed. And yes, she gave a tug to that ear of hers on closing.

    Carol Burnett, amazing

by Bobtg on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

When I was a young girl watching The Carol Burnett show re-runs after dinner with the family, I would have never thought that I was going to get the chance to see her live. As soon as I saw the event listed I knew I had to go...I was going even if I couldn't find anyone to go with me...which of course wasn't a problem at all. It was awesome to hear about her experiences on the show and in life. I would recommend her show to anyone who is a fan for sure... not to be missed! Glad I didn't miss it!

Carol is aging! Sweet but living in the past

by PatbigFans on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

Carol at Massey Center was crowded and hot. Loved the old sitcom tapes but.... that was it. New questions from the crowd -boring and boring. Too bad Carol just did not do a stand up of stories or something. But asking questions from the crowd was useless & a waste of time. Too bad as Carol's career has always in the past brought a huge smile to my face and has added a warm glow to my heart. Not this night.

    Carol Burnett..One Classy Lady

by Oriana on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

Miss Burnett brought back some wonderfull memories with hysterical clips from her show. She looked wonderfull and handled the questions from the audience with grace & her usual humor. The only drawback was...too many clips on screen leaving less time for questions.

    She's a class act!

by freezie on 2009-07-14Massey Hall - Toronto

My memories of the Carol Burnett show always give me a warmth in my heart. Not only was it edgy, funny and sometimes down right silly, but it brought me back to a place where my family was happiest together. We watched the show with popcorn and chips, anticipating what her next skit would be, what would she be wearing, and hoping that the rest of the cast would crack up on stage. I took my mom to the show and it felt like I went back in time. Carol was funnier than ever. We were so delighted to have been at the show and in typical Carol style, we were all included in the show. What a great night.

    Carol still bringing the laughter!!!

by Cheran on 2009-07-14Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I thought the show was a great combination of Carol Burnett and her wonderful personality, clips from the Carol Burnett show and audience questions. Carol is so genuine and inviting that it was like being in her presence in an intimate setting, like a dinner party. We had a great time and she still has the quick wit that she is famous for.
