My wife & I had seen bits and pieces of Derek Edwards’ routines over the years on TV, but this was the first opportunity we’d had to see him in person. 90 minutes of howling laughter. New material mixed in with the tried and true, but worth every penny. My wife was still complaining a couple of days later her stomach was sore, from laughing so hard.
Derek has a way that you can enjoy an evening of fun about every day events and local issues. He is truly a funny guy!
I had a bit of a headache by the end of the show because I was laughing so much. I would definitely say that Derek Edwards is one of the best (if not *the* best) comedian in Canada. I've seen him 4 times now and I've never walked away disappointed. If you have the opportunity to see Derek Edwards....go!
Derek always entertains and Friday night was no exception! Kept us in stitches the entire show!
Derek seemed somewhat tired, I remember laughing more at last show in Wpg, maybe all that traveling wears a person down. However, the jokes on Sask were great, and the fights with wife segments as well. Did not care for the reference on the strip clubs, not necessary, appeared t be reaching for topics.
one of my favorite comedians... love his humour, tears from laughter.
To preface: It is not the performance that was substandard, it was the use of stage speakers only that provided sound and the venue's theatre speakers were not in use. We had purchased 6 seats ($325) in first balcony, but could not hear the performer. We complained to the ushers, then to the venue manager; we were told that the sound did not carry well to the first balcony because the Burton Cummings Theatre speakers were not in use. The performer had requested bringing in his own speakers which were directed to the floor audience only. We were also told that other audience members had complained of the same issue. So this was a total waste of money!! When purchasing tickets on line we should be made aware of this or the theatre should insist that performers use the venue's sound system.
The show was fantastic. However my only "complaint" would be the sound. We were in row 13 and yet there were times Derek was speaking rather quietly and I could not hear what he was saying. As a result I did not hear about 20% of the jokes he was telling. I was with a group of friends who also experienced the same problem & the woman in front of me was having the same problem. It would have been nice to hear the entire show without having to strain to listen to what was being said. BTW, this was not due to people in the audience talking, his mic\speakers were just not loud enough.
Loved the show. Have seen him before and would definitely go again. Can relate to all his topics.
