I grew up during Carol King and James Taylor's "Hey Day". I use to lay in my bed with my Headphones on listening to Tapestry and Sweet Baby James. Their message was hopeful and uplifting and it helped make me think that no matter what was going on, everything was going to be OK.
When my girls were children, they grew up in a house where they heard/listened to James and Carol when I did not have the headphones on. They grew to appreciate and admire both artists just as much as I did. The remark from my younger daughter last night was that listening to their songs "just makes me happy."
Last night's concert took me back to those early days. The setting, considering the sold out crowd, was very intimate. When I closed my eyes I could visualize being back in my room, listening to my records. The same voices and the same positive message.
In a world where everything is constantly changing, it was nice to experience something that brought back the same good feelings that I had as a teenager. I am now at an age where I can reflect back and know that all those years ago they were right....I was at a concert, with the two most important people in my life, listening to two of my favourite artists....Everything did turn out OK !
