Chantal is incredible live! Amazing voice and awesome on the piano. Can't wait to see her again when her kids are older and the swearing makes it's come back!

I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Chantal was elegant, funny, and very entertaining. I would have like less chatter and more music, but otherwise she was great!

Great show but the video in the background was just annoying. At first it was just nice nature shots but then it was bizzare, choppy, repetitive. Just didn't get it.

Chantal Kreviazuk (Friday at River Rock)

by FirstReviewer on 2009-11-08River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

Chantal was great. She's a real talent. Amazing voice; great piano skills. Her band was also very good. Controlling/mixing for the sound was not good. In many pieces the drums seemed to be far too loud for her voice. Even the piano seemed to be miked too loud for her voice at times. The volume is fine but the artist's voice should never be overwhelmed by the supporting instruments. Listen to her cds and the balance is far better. The songs she sang alone, or with limited backup, were the highlight. The 30 - 45 minute break between the opening act and Chantal was far too long. Seemed to give the hecklers a chance to get another beer or two. You don't need people yelling out from the audience. I don't think Chantal appreciated this either.

    Chantal is simply amazing!

by znz212 on 2009-11-08River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

This is my 6th Chantal Kreviazuk concert. Needless to say, I'm a fan. Chantal's music is beautiful. Her lyrics are emotional and brilliant and so many other amazing things. Listening to a CD just does not do justice to how powerful Chantal's voice is. If you love her music, you can't miss out on seeing her in concert. Her interaction with the audience is fantastic. She really shows how down to earth she is, and how much she appreciates the fans. Simply put, she puts on an <expletive> amazing show!

    Chantal sparkles

by heathrow on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

I've seen Chantal many times over the years, and she's always beautiful, genuine, funny, and I am always in awe of her amazing talent. This concert was no exception. (But Chantal, *please* lose the karaoke-video-style backdrop -- it's distracting and heaven knows you don't need the props to carry your show, girl!) Also do yourself a favour and show up in time for her adorable opening act, Meaghan Smith. She's oozing with charm and has an irresistibly sweet voice. I'm a brand-new fan.

    Meaghan & Chantal were fabulous!

by DollyDoll on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

Chantal was easy and breezy on stage...so confident and capable and down to earth. Her piano playing was fantastic and her voice so strong. She is such a natural performer, taking everything in stride, as people continually took flash photos and yelled out indiscernible phrases and requests.between the songs. She remarked with little quips that had us laughing and smiling all the while. Her songs were beautiful and she played for a wonderfully long time. Every moment was memorable. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This was my first Chantal Kreviazuk concert so i really did not know what to expect. She turned out to be very funny and developed a great rapport with the audience. She played a lot of songs from her new album interspersed with her old hits. It was a memorable evening.

Chantal was great but the visuals need work

by After5 on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

I'd been looking forward to Chantal Kreviazuk's concert at the River Rock for months because the last time I'd seen her there she'd made me a fan -- I'd been blown away. Last night was like eating a highly anticipated complex curry that had one rogue ingredient that didn't belong and thus tainted the overall dish. That rogue ingredient was the visual projections. When the backdrop was a simple gradient colour, it worked fine. In fact was rather dramatic and allowed the audience to focus on Chantal's voice and her band, which was solid despite Chantal having to strain from time to time due to an apparent cold. Mind you, straining by Kreviazuk still sounds pretty damn amazing. Back to the visuals... when they changed to repeating videos clips (how do I describe them) of nature, landscapes, and people the quality was at times, bad and thus quite distracting. The short, repeating clips were being projected onto the backdrop by 4 lenses each responsible for one quadrant. It seemed the lenses weren't aligned properly or the video wasn't in sync. It was really apparent when the video was moving faster, like the people jogging sequence. The worst one (dear AV guy, please fix this one) was the silhouette of a girl outstretching her arms, and then a profile of her face raised to the sun. These two images repeated over & over & over again. The image was more aligned but it felt like weird brainwashing video, and that someone would soon hand me a cup of magic Kool-aid. All in all I still give the concert 4 stars. Chantal's new music sounds great, and the old favourites were wonderful. I hope she gets over her cold soon, and that they work out the kinks in the visuals now that the first concert of the tour is under their belts. I'll go to the next tour, but my request to Chantal (or her manager) is to let another city be guinea pigs for the first concert of the tour next time. We've taken our turn. p.s. Chantal, if you read this, I know you may say "expletive-her", but I hope not. You are fabulous, your band is fabulous, and the visuals have great potential.

    Chantal's voice was unbelievable!

by Wicket on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

We saw Chantal at River Rock Casino and she was simply amazing. Her voice was stronger than ever before. She played a great mix of her old stuff and her great new album. The performance went smoothly for her first show of the tour. Chantal looked great in her black gown. Only downside was that she didn't swear once! We won't the old raw Chantal back ;)

    Chantal can really sing!

by lovingChantal on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

Chantal is all grown up. Beautiful evening gown, witty comments between songs (just being herself), no potty mouth, and above all, music to make the heart sing. This girl has an exceptional gift for songwriting, piano, and that voice! Her band was outstanding and the songs for the new album were great. Usually it is boring to listen to new songs, but most of them were easy to catch on to. The only negative comment is that we were very disappointed that she did not do Green Apples and Wayne. Please do them on your next tour, Chantal. Pretty please?

Chantal can belt an amazing voice!

by IcyC on 2009-11-07River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

Chantal Kreviazuk's concert was SOLID! She truly gets you enchanted in her voice and piano skills. When she plays she smiles, looks out onto the audience and its like her fingers are in auto mode. Her 3 band members play lovely too and even part take in some of the action. You'll see...don't want to spoil it. I loved it and from what I could see others were heavily into her too.

    Chantal was a potty mouth

by Szucs on 2009-10-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was our second time seeing Chantal and we were very excited. The first concert in the same venue turned out to be a very nice evening out. We were a bit embarassed that Stars air Ambulance would feel Chantal was a worthy addition to their fundraiser. She used a LOT of inappropriate language including the F bomb many times throughout her performances, eventhough they were done in a cutsy way through stories, we felt we would of had to leave the venue if we had our children with us, because we do not condon that sort of language in our home. This was not a comedy club for adults where you expect this kind of crude talking behaviour. The performance lacked luster in that there was only one accompanying instrument,. no thought put into costumes, sometimes jeans just aren't appropriate. And the children that were there waving glow in the dark sticks, she called her "little Bitches". Now if you think that was appropriate then by all means pay the money and come on out, we choose never to see her again.
