Can you imagine the routine 1970's Cheech and Chong would have made of current America, what with marijuana decriminalized in a dozen states and legal for adults in a couple? The fact is, the inspired combination of East L.A.'s Richard "Cheech" Marin and Canadian Tommy Chong has always been ahead of its time, above and beyond their views on cannabis. Their legendary records-- not to mention movies like Up in Smoke and 2012's Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie-- helped pave the way to the absurdist slice of life comedy of everyone from Seth Rogen to Aziz Anasri.
The duo broke up bitterly during the mid '80's and took different paths, with Marin finding success as an actor in movies like Tin Cup and on TV's Nash Bridges, and Chong solidifying his place as both a comedic actor on "That 70's Shows" and as a marijuana activist. When they joined forces in 2008 and began touring againÑ Cheech had gone through a divorce, and Chong had just gotten out of prisonÑtheir concerts teemed with unbridled joy of two lovers reunited, and there was an immediate sense that the two were going to stick. At this point, Cheech & Chong have found their rhythm together, and ticket holders can expect both throwbacks to the pair's colorful past and surprises that show them to be as ready to push the cultural envelope now as they were in the 1970's.
Would luv to spend another evening with Cheech and Chong !!!
Had a great laugh! Just like the movies when we sat and watched on a Sunday afternoon
Cheech and Chong was unforgettable and I had the best time. People really need to go and see them, they were amazing and funny as hell.
I have seen them six times now, This was the shortest show I have seen, not sure why? They are still great as usual, but a lot missing that was in other shows that I have seen. Still recommended for all to see.
Entertainers: These guys are always a blast, seen them a dozen times. Would recommend them to anyone, "smoker" or not. Room: They needed to be in a smaller "warmer" room... not a conference centre. Tough to have an interactive show, like Ch & Ch host. Chairs sucked... like a SunWing flight, soooo tight together. NOT comfortable, Grey Eagle!
Hilarious show, the whole act was amazing. Shelby Chong was a hilarious opening act as well. Brought back lots of memories from their movies. My father, brother, his wife, and I all enjoyed it. The only thing was...it was way too loud. I've been to the River Cree before so I brought ear plugs, but the rest of my family wished they had as well. Turn down the volume. I could hear everything clearly through ear plugs, I even wished I had better ones at some points.
We enjoyed the variety of their show- jokes, singing, talking. Chong’s wife too was very funny!
Seats were a little uncomfortable which made the show feel like it was dragging...show was good though!
While there were a few moments that were funny, their show was old, crude, dull and boring. They were on for 1.5 hours, and definitely not worth the $70+ we paid for each ticket. Chong's wife opened (included in the 1.5 hr show) and wasn't funny at all.
Old routines, poorly sung songs and out of touch with today's events. Put it this say, if you and your friends got drunk and loaded and started to have a discussion, this was the Cheech and Chong show. And who said they could sing..OMG. The only good part about the show was Chong's wife who looked marvelous. Even with hoots and copious amounts of booze, I could not squeeze out a chuckle and left the show early. Simply put, they should have stayed in the seventies.
These guys are absolutely hilarious, would recommend to everybody
My husband was really looking forward to this show, and we anticipated a lot of belly laughs. Not so. The material was stale and tacky, and the delivery, just dialing it in. We are not prudes and can take the potty humour just fine, but it was just not funny. Chong's wife added nothing to the show. We were rather embarrassed, having brought another couple with us. Time to retire, boys!
This was a pretty raunchy show...I mean over the top raunchy. Too many p*ssy jokes. Shelby Chong was downright annoying. Cheech's "Earache My Eye" was the highlight of the night for me. I loved hearing "Basketball Jones" too. A lot of the act seemed like filler like their off-tune "Does Your Mama Know About Me"...and Shelby Chong.
Great show - was well worth going!! would definitely go again to se them.
Cheech and Chong were hilarious, they still got it!
if you have watched all of their movies, then you have seen most of the show already, not much for new material, the band was really good, nice to see them in person. i would go again.
War was incredible! CheechnChong still have it! Funny!
We were totally disgusted with this show. Thong's wife thinks she is a comedian which she definitely is not. They were late starting the show and then we only saw the duo for maybe 15 minutes and then WAR played for approximately 45 minutes. The duo came back out for another 15 minutes, by then it was 11:00 p.m. and they reintroduced WAR again. At this time we left as many others did. During the second time that the duo were out they had a huge spotlight on the audience and we could not see the stage. All in all it was the worst concert we had been to. We have gone to several performances at the River Cree and enjoyed all of them. This was a total waste of $200 spent on the show.
Not what I was expecting. Bought tickets for Cheech and Chong but should have been marketed as War with guest appearance by Cheech and Chong.
What a total waste of time & money! We bought tickets & invited friends thinking it Would be a fun night but Cheech & Chong Were so bad we left before the show was finished.
