About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Way too electric for me!

by WASPStinger on 2009-10-23Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

I expected a trumpet player and got a wild bass player, lead guitar and drummer. The last monologue on the bonus number seemed longer than the number. Guess I am not a true fan. Why spend your money on a live concert when the CD is more what you are looking for? I was also distracted by people illegally taking flash photos and making videos with their iphones. The ushers sprang into action further distracting me from the live performance.

  • Chris Botti at Massey Hall sent shivers up my spin

    by Butterfly17 on 2009-10-23Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

From the minute he stepped out on stage and started to play that sweet melody on the trumpet, I had shivers up my spine. Not only is he sexy but the melody that exudes from his trumpet is also sexy! The band was just as amazing and even comical. His commentary and humour added to the wonderful evening. Even if you're not a jazz fan he appeals to everyone. Massey Hall is the perfect venue for Botti!

  • Chris Botti concert ..........Oct.22/09

by bocakarl on 2009-10-23Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Just a wonderful and masterful performance by Chris with full marks for the rest of the band. I missed James Genus on the bass drums after his stellar performance on the"Chris Botti Live with orchestra and special guests" video DVD. What more can be said of the genius of Sir Billy Childs on piano......... we now get to the baddest ass drummer on the planet ....Mr.Billy Kilson....shockingly talented......really he is as good as it gets. The guitar work of Mark Whitfield was limited on the album...but in this arena he came to play and was awesomely outstanding. Loved every minute of it .......was waiting the arrival of Jill Scott who performed on the album ....enough said.....buy that DVD.....its #1 in my book ....Thanks

What a spectacular show at Massey Hall last night. Take a great hall, mix with great musicians, timeless songs, and you have a night to remember. Chris Botti is like an angel of music. I am in awe. Very inspiring and wonderful. Thank you!

The evening went extremely well. Massy hall was the perfect venue for Chris to play in. The sound was amazing , and the quests were even better.

  • Best of Botti!

What a show, what a performer, the stage savvy is amazing. Looks, talent, the easy flow of his conversations with the audience...if I were building an entertainment machine, he would be the finished product. The way he shares the stage with his fellow performers is something to behold, he beckons them to seize the moment, and they do under his prodding...they all look like they are having a great time, and that radiates to the audience. And this man has talent, forget about all the other stuff, pure talent and a fantastic delivery. An incredible show, even better than his show last year at Massy Hall. I'll be at his next show at Massey Hall.

What a wonderful show. Chris is such a talent! He's handsome, humble, sincere, funny and just as much a class act as his idol Frank Sinatra! We had a wonderful evening at Massey Hall. An unforgetable night made special by Chris and his band!

Chris Botti is a Master Artist and Performer! He inspires the audience with a vast repertoire of Pop, Jazz, and Classical Music. Chris personalizes with the audience, sharing his life experiences. He graciously shares the stage with a multitude of extremely gifted and talented musicians. He is an inspiration to Youth, encouraging them to follow there dreams! Truly they are a very Blessed Group of Family Performers! What can I say the " Ave Maria ", the Vatican would be envious!

  • Always A Great Show

    by DCC1 on 2009-10-23Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I've been a Chris Botti fan for years now, and I've seen him at Massey Hall at least twice. He manages to do what very few others are able to do, and that's bring a great mix of classical, jazz, pop and rock to one stage. It's really quite amazing how well it blends and makes for an interesting and pleasing event. Not everyone will appreciate all of the music presented here but it's definitely a great show. We were on the floor, seventh row, and the sound was okay, not great. There seemed to be a hissing sound coming from the speakers on the left, and while it wasn't noticeable during the jam sessions, it was during the softer pieces.
