CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:
Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."
"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"
"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

Loved Chris Botti and his entire band. Extraordinary musicians, good variety, always entertaining. When I first bought the tickets I kinda wondered how a guy with a trumpet could keep an audience engaged for 2 hours. He added all the right components to make it a truly great show. At the end I almost wanted to hear more of just him and his trumpet. The time went by so quickly. Great show, well worth it.
I knew this was going to be good, but I didn't know how good! Not only was Botti amazing, but he had a stable of unbelievably talented guests that made the show even better!
What a superb group of musicians- all talented in their own right and a tour de force as an ensemble!
Chris Botti is one amazing instrumentalist. Great musicians and performers in his band too!
An amazing evening. Chris Botti is an exceptional musician, the fact that he is witty, down to earth and handsome is just a bonus. What a band, so much talent!! Loved the variety of tunes. He is a gift. Thanks for sharing
The first time I saw Chris Botti, he opened for Sting at Massey Hall. Since then I have purchased a couple of his CDs but never had seen him again in person. It was well worth the wait. His rapport with the audience was great, his selection of music crossed all genres and his guest stars were superb. Sandy Cameron on violin was fairylike and wow could she play....when she ended her one piece with Led Zepplin's Cashmir, you looked around and the whole audience was in motion. He also introduced a new young star, tenor Raphael Russo (I think) and his voice was to die for....I could go on and on...the band was amazing, the drummer unbelievable. Botti even asked for any pre teen musicians in the crowd to put up their hands and to everyone's delight there was a young trumpet player who was quickly moved with his parents up to the second row, and was summonsed up on stage to play the drums on one of the evenings tunes....what an experience for a young boy, one he'll never forget...Botti also came down in the audience playing away while another excellent vocalist made an entrance singing a Roberta Flack arrangement (unfortunately I didn't hear her name and am guessing that it may have been Sy Smith) The only thing that leaves me astonished is that there was not one review of the show in any of the Toronto papers, websites etc....the media sure missed out by not covering this concert.
We have seen Chris Botti in the past. He always entertains. But tonight, with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra behind him, the show was better than ever. From classical to jazz and pop, Chris Botti entertains throughout the night. His guests are amazing and his quartet are some of the best musicians around. He invited the kids and young musicians to fill empty seats at the front of the Jubilee Auditorium. Even inviting our son onto the stage to interact with the band and play the drums. If you EVER have a chance to see Chris Botti live, take it. You won't be disappointed!
What a great show. He engages with the audience so well - audience participation. What a great evening. I was so looking forward to seeing him and he did not disappoint. Hope to see him again.
Chris Botti is a phenomenal musician and entertainer! In addition to his solo pieces, Chris's ability to weave his talented trumpet playing along with a variety of other talented musicians and genres of music (classical, jazz, rhythm/blues, pop) was amazing! He certainly knows how to engage his audience and make them feel a part of his concert. The CPO orchestra along with Chris's band highlight what collaborative music is about-- enjoyment, relaxation, inspiration and fun! Chris' jazz piano player and his drummer were so talented! Thank you for a wonderful evening! Everyone in our group who attended the concert is looking forward to Chris's future return to Calgary for another great performance!
I have wanted to see Chris Botti for quite some time now but never had the good fortune of ever being nearby one of his show stops. I was fortunate enough to catch his show in Calgary and was very glad that I did. He puts on a very entertaining show and has amazing musicians who accompany him. His drummer and violinist in particular made quite an impression!
Fantastic show! Chris plays to perfection and is very engaging with the audience. All who performed with Chris were excellent musicians and singers. Wonderful performance by all.
What a fantastic evening! Loved how he mixed things up with featured musicians and a couple of amazing singers. One of the most endearing things he does is to involve young musicians from the audience in his shows. Worth every penny!
I had high expectations for this concert and they were surpassed by far. Chris played up to his usual high standards and his supporting players were equal to the task. No weak spots in his band and his singers were amazing. Lee Pearson on drums was mesmerizing.
Phenomenal performances! Extreme talent, every performer bought their own magic to the show.
Wonderful concert. He never disappoints! Can't wait to see him again.
This was our fist time seeing the incomporable Chris Botti without a back up orchestra. The show was super and the members of the band got to do a solo each. The drummer Lee Pearson was unbelieveable, his drum solo was like nothing i've seen before, just iincredible. The female fiddle player, Lucia Micarelli's solo was also incredible, she has a rare rare talent. We saw Sy Smith before and she has such energy and a great voice, so good to get to see her again.
When Chris B. came out and i saw new band members, i was disillusioned as i was expecting his crack band from a few years ago and the band from his "Live in Boston" Blu Ray. As the concert wore on, the new band members showed they were good performers. they did not have the charisma of the previous band members, but musically they did not disappoint. The Violin player Lucia carried part of the night with her rendition of Kashmir @ Led Z and brought the house down. All in all, i was pleasantly surprised and happy I came out and saw this concert!
Outstanding performances, great musicianship and warm stage presence
Every moment, every tune was performed wonderfully. The guest artists individually were fabulous. What a great night!
