  • Chris de Burgh in Edmonton

by Andrea on 2023-05-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

As always Chris de Burgh put on an excellent show. The mix of the classics and new music was good. He is an excellent entertainer and I can’t wait to see him again. Awesome show!

Loved his new material. His performance of Borderline deserved a standing ovation which he received. A Spaceman Came Traveling gave me shivers. What a wonderful experience!

  • Never gets old

by NTK8 on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Four decades after I first saw him, Chris de Burgh brought the same energy to the stage. Charming, funny, serious and willing to play favourites and not just the latest album. He performed alone first. Then came the band. I think he might have played all night and the crowd would have stayed to sing, dance and listen.

  • Been a fan for years

by A fan on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

All in all the show was good but I found the lights too bright and distracting from the music. I also feel the band was too loud and drowned out the words to some songs.

  • Awesome concert!

I love the Jubilee Auditorium! Indeed, I prefer it to the Saddledome, and the Jube was the perfect venue for Chris de Burgh—excellent acoustics, smaller crowd, warmer ambience. de Burgh himself sounds the same as he always has. Loved all the music, the stories, the band—everything!

  • Absolutely Amazing Concert!

by Jane on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

We have followed Chris through the years attending every Edmonton concert he has performed. He is older, but still has an amazing voice. The stories he tells through his music are wonderful and he is open and honest with his chit chat with his fans. Loved his comments about never going back to Russia to perform and his concern for the girls attending school in Iran. We attended the Shania Twain concert which was great, but the Chris deBurgh concert was better!

  • Best show ever!

by Steve J. on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I have listened to Chris De Burgh since my teenage years. So glad that I finally saw him live. Chris was very gracious and engaging with the audience and played many familiar songs.

  • Great show

Great show put on by Chris and the band! A little less use of the strobe lights blinding our eyes would have improved the experience.

  • CDEB

by Randy Haakonson on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

As a life long fan, I have not missed a concert since his early concerts in Edmonton/Calgary. I was so very pleased with the content of his concert, a little disappointed that he didnt walk the floor for Lady in Red as he has done every other show. My daughter and I attended the show together we were so very pleased to share this experience together. She is my Little CDEB SuperFan. Chris' voice is starting to show signs of ageing but beyond that he is still a great showman his interaction with the fans is briliant. We hold out hope that he makes it back to Edmonton again someday.

  • Incredible!!

by PMack on 2023-05-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

What an incredible performance. Chris de Burgh's voice is as amazing today as it was over 30 years ago when I saw him perform in Calgary. Worth every penny. If you ever have the chance to see him perform, I would highly recommend you jump at the opportunity. A great performer and a wonderful gentleman.

Chris De Burgh is a great performer and it is very apparent that he loves to do this. Great music - some older, some new, but very good.

  • European Flair in an Annoying Environment

    by H. F. on 2023-05-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Chris de Burgh put on a great show as usual. We had seen him numerous times on European music shows and he never disappoints. I had bought tickets for my wife's 81st birthday. Unfortunately we were sitting beside a couple that drank too much, came in late for the start of the performance and late again at the end of the intermission. And throughout the performance they talked and took videos on their oversized cell phones, which annoyed the people sitting behind them. It got to the point where almost a fight broke out. There were actually people all over the theatre holding their phones up and recording. My wife and I left early, right after Chris' signature song, because we had enough.

  • BEST EVER!!!

    by C. P. on 2023-05-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

You see I have only been to one other concert and I was disappointed with Celene Dion, Here I thought when you go to a concert, the person would do a lot of singing, but she did NOT, she went into a lot of dress changes and only sang a few songs. So when we came to see Chris Da Burgh, IT WAS GREAT!!!! the songs and music was fantastic. He is a great singer and story teller, we really loved his music. When and if he comes back to Edmonton or Calgary, we will surely be going to see him again. BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!

  • Some great, some not so

by David on 2023-05-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

We saw Chris de Burgh at the Jube on May 5. Overall, it was a good show. There was one particular annoyance: whenever the would speak after a song, they turned on these bright lights onto the audience. They were so bright, we had to shield our eyes. Was it a glitch or deliberate? Don't know. His voice gave out toward the end of the show, often forcing him to go into falsetto quite frequently. But, expecting the voice from 40 years ago is folly, I suppose. He is a great songwriter! And it was a wonderful evening in spite of these issues.

  • Worth Seeing!

by SnowCap on 2023-05-08Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Glad we saw this. De Burgh’s voice is still good and he can still hit most of the high notes. He’s also very personable, and surprisingly funny! And it was a classy move to do a bit of a tribute to Gordy Lightfoot, so soon after his passing. I liked that he started out alone, doing both piano and guitar songs, before he brought out his very high quality band. Also appreciated the intermission! And that he announced early on that there would be one! Overall, a fun night! Thanks, Chris!
