Chris de Burgh still has it !

by blizard on 2015-09-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

A highly energetic, wonderful concert. He changed it up from last year by playing with the band in the first half (with some solo stuff thrown in) and in the second half he had a full orchestra backing him up - spectacular ! ! ! I was worried as I had seen him last year and sometimes it's a repeat performance but this year's concert was quite different - a surprising and welcome change. Good thinking Chris !! BUT, we ALL missed Patricia the Stripper. I know it must get repetitive playing the same repertoire, but I think Patricia the Stripper is a must at every concert Chris. Just saying.......

    What an awesome time!

by StillAching on 2015-09-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

My husband and I bought these tickets months ago knowing it was a smaller venue and being interested in seeing Chris live because we love his albums. What an awesome time. He performed for 3 hours, his energy was high and his voice was 100% the one we love and know. Chris, thank you so very much for sharing your talent and efforts with us. One of the things we enjoyed the most was Chris' flexibility to sing wonderfully and captivatingly solo, with his 4 piece band, or with an orchestra behind him. How amazing is that?

Chris de Burgh is a must see!

by Rcourt on 2015-09-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Super concert, saw him twice in the 70's and he was just as good if not better. Extremely personable, he had the audience eating out of his hand. The Sony Centre is a wonderful venue.

    De burgh magic

by Magicbird on 2012-06-16Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

How to describe the Chris De burgh concert?!. A very enjoyable assault on your senses!. Chris doesn't just stand on stage and sing, he has the ability to take you out of your seat and into Moonfleet Bay!. I loved the storytelling aspect of this CD. I did wonder how he would carry it off in front of an audience, but with his ability to hold the audience captive with his weave of stories to music it was great. I also of course enjoyed the old tunes where we were all on our feet dancing and singing along. I also loved the obvious rapport between him and his band members.

Always puts on a great show + new songs were great

by bugsbunny on 2012-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Chris always puts on a fantastic show-we have seen him 3 times. He really connects with the audience and his Lady in Red walking through the audience hugging and dancing with people was wonderful. The new songs were very good too. His voice is still excellent.

    old songs were great

by bourne on 2012-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

We saw Chris at his previous concert and were thrilled. This last concert was compleatly different. Not so intimate, but the light show was out of this world, the accompaniment over powered the vocals, but we still enjoyed the evening. I guess this style apeals to the younger generation, we still prefer the more intimate setting.

CDB continues to present a MUST SEE performance!

by Anonymous on 2012-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

After almost 40 years, his remarkable vocals are unchanged! The first bit of the show was over produced with the instruments over powering the vocals, but when CDB was centre stage, he had the audience in hand and in heart. His cry for peace is unabated and his new songs continue to express this. The performance of 'No Borderline' with him at the piano was sublime. Even the way he handled 'Lady in Red' was charming and endeared him to the audience even more. It was a treat to see him again after almost 30 years.

Absolutely amazing! Waited all my life to see him perform. So worth the wait Discovered his music when I was 13. Now 50 and i saw him for the first time. Wished the night would never have ended! He is such an entertaining hyper little man. Not a second was wasted! There have only EVER been 2 on my bucket list! 1 down & 1 more to go. Even better would be if they performed together. They have collaborated together in the past. Chris & Mike Oldfield together would blow my mind!

AMAZING! Chris de Burgh Has Truly Upped His Game

by CJDFNS on 2012-05-05The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

What an unforgettable evening. We have seen Chris de Burgh eight years ago in Montréal and I can say, he has truly upped his game since then. It was a night of sincere emotions, laughs, beautiful music, and dancing. It was enjoyable to hear his stories and he is a funny man indeed. There was no shortage of songs and the performance went on for almost four hours. And just when we thought it was over, he sings another song, then another, and another. It was exciting. Seemed to never end and we did not want it to. During “Lady In Red” he came out in the first six rows or so hugging and shaking hands with just about anyone who was fortunate enough to get close. Chris appeared to appreciate the crowd and did his best to meet as many fans as possible during the song. People posed for photos and many were happy enough to give him little pecks on his cheek. My wife being one of those lucky ladies also got two hugs from Chris. Near the end of his performance he handed my wife his guitar pick, which as anyone would tell you, is a very exciting moment. I was a bit disappointed that I could not get close enough to Chris to shake his hand. And then out of the blue he jumped off the stage and climbed the seat in front of me and again started to mingle with the fans. At that point I got to shake his hand and thank him for an awesome show. Chris de Burgh is my all-time favourite performer and to see him as he performed and to shake his hand was for me one of my greatest life experiences. And to see my wife so happy and dancing was worth the trip from Calgary. Thank you very much Chris de Burgh for a show I we will never forget. You are a class act and it honestly showed throughout the show. Well worth every cent we paid to see you and we would see you again without any hesitations.
