  • singing off key

by Morgey on 2023-11-15Algonquin Commons Theatre - NepeanRating: 3 out of 5

It was a good evening and special to see acrobats with live musicians. It resembled a stripped down to very bare essentials cirque du “musica”. The musicians who played brought the captivating sounds however the lead singer often sang strained and slightly off key. ( most numbers) This is geared for children with magic that is geared for them.

  • This is for little kids

by Ash on 2023-11-15Algonquin Commons Theatre - NepeanRating: 1 out of 5

This show was a mixed bag. A few of the acts were extraordinarily talented and were amazing to watch. The singing of O Holy night was beautiful and the acrobats were incredible. There was not often anyone in the air, like in the poster. When there was it was amazing. Most of the show was a juvenile, silly play. 8pm showing was cancelled so we went at 5pm. Why this was ever offered at 8 pm is bizarre and a little misleading because the intended audience would be up past bedtime. If you are an adult without kids book a different show to see acrobats.

  • A bit too slow

by Paul on 2023-11-14Algonquin Commons Theatre - NepeanRating: 4 out of 5

There was a bit more signing than we expected. Also when the guitarist and violinist did their “solos” the background music was just as loud as them so hard to really appreciate if you are a musician. The few actual acts were good, especially the guys flipping around. Unfortunately when the girls did their act, the lights were on the singer which was unfortunate. The singer was good, but it would have been nice to have full lights on the girls act which was phenomenal. Finally, the “story” was not produced by Steven King… let’s just leave it at that…

  • Simplified Fun

by Avid Concert-Goer on 2023-11-14Algonquin Commons Theatre - NepeanRating: 4 out of 5

The musical and athletic performers were fantastic and the sort of quality one might expect from the Cirque brand. They really were breathtaking. The narrative was a little uninspired but it is an all-ages show. That said, much of the humor was out of place leaving most jokes to fall flat or go completely unnoticed by the audience. -not too many people expect Madonna references and a repetitive Botox joke at a Christmas Show. At the end, it felt worth the $60 (approx) per ticket. We had fun. Think of it as Mini-Cirque and you will be fine.

  • Okay

The acrobats were neat, but the story fell flat and it it certainly wasn't worth the ticket price.

  • Great and cute

We brought our granddaughter who loved it. We thought it was a really cute show.

  • I smiled so big

by Sam on 2023-11-14Algonquin Commons Theatre - NepeanRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED Cirque Musica! I sat on the edge of my seat the entire show with a huge grin spread across my face clapping. I’ve never been to an even like this and it was everything I hoped for and more. Would go back again and again!

  • Amazing

by NicoleMarie on 2023-11-13Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

I have never been to a cirque show or a musical so I made sure I was front and center for this! The singing was wonderful, the acting was fun, the tricks were amazing. It was never a dull moment during this proformance.

  • Yikes

by Ren on 2023-11-13Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 2 out of 5

My mum and I loved Cirque du Soleil when Alegria and Crystal came to Halifax. Cirque Musica seemed like it was less about the acrobats or tricks and more childish. The princess' mic was very loud compared to the music and it seemed more like a pantomime kids show vs a real cirque du Soleil show. The acts were very short compared to her singing or talking. And the bubble performer wasn't center stage so anyone not on the right side of the stadium couldn't really see what was happening.

  • Nice experience for the family, but..

by Carinea on 2023-11-13Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 3 out of 5

Very nice experience, well organized, the show was interesting... The performers are skilled and well trained... the music is nice... but the show could use more diversified entertainment acts like clowns, magicians, unicyclist, not to mention some animal show or at least defilé... those acts are always a hit with kids... Also the bubble show was nice but should've been better placed (was on the side, so bubbles were not really well visible), felt the duration is short, and could've been more spectacular, more interactive by blowing more bubbles to the public... Kids would've loved some funny characters to pass by the alleys... these are just observations from other circus shows we've seen, and were missing here !

  • Great performers, tough performance.

by Henry on 2023-11-13Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 3 out of 5

The sound system was way too loud and quality was off, so it was hard to really understand what the actors were saying and/or singing at times. The actual acrobats and circus performers were great, entertaining - while the 'Holiday' theme was a bit lost on us and confusing. Unfortunately for the cost of the ticket, this was a bit of a let down.

  • Would not go again

    by Momx1 on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 1 out of 5

The actual circus performers were excellent at their jobs, very skilled for the most part. But I was surprised it had a weird musical theatre element to it. The story line was extremely weak, the actors probably went over well with small children but it was really not good, the singing, acting, the back drops were all bad. I don’t think I can blame the performers themselves though, it was just a bad story with terrible music. They should have left out the speaking and singing and spent money on better music and let the clown and performers act out the story with a narrator or something. I cannot recommend going to see this show, sorry.

  • Great show!

My son was very excited! The artists work was amazing! Highly recommended!

  • NOT CIRQUE DU SOLEIL

by LL on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 1 out of 5

This show was awful. The advertisement made it seem like a Cirque du soleil show. Definitely was no where near their production. Sound was awful.

  • Not what I was expecting

by Margie on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 3 out of 5

More of a young family show .....not the typical high end cirque show!

  • Not what I expected

by Tig on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 2 out of 5

I guess I assumed with the name Cirque in their title......it was cirque de soleil Showing acrobats on ads, I thought I was gonna be watching something totally different. Was few good acts but to me it was something you see at Buskers

  • Cirque Musica Holiday - Misses the Mark

by Carolleanne on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 3 out of 5

This show could be so much more than it is. While I understand the idea of the princess and her friends, it totally ruins the whole show. The princess is nothing but annoying when talking, and totally misses the mark when singing. The beauty of the show lies in the actual cirque part which could be beefed up with beautiful Christmas music playing in the background and the story could simply be unfolding in the projections in the background. We were very disappointed in this show and even heard the five-year old sitting behind us, exclaim that “she was done” after about five minutes!

  • Was Loud but Good

by HRM Fan on 2023-11-12Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 4 out of 5

Took my son (age 10) to see the show. The performers were great. My only two suggestions would be to 1) start the show at 7pm rather than 8pm, since much of the audience included kids under 12, and 2) turn down the volume a bit, as it was excessively loud. All in all, glad we went to the show - it was good to have this in Halifax!

  • Could be better

by Tom on 2023-11-11Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 3 out of 5

At the cost of the tickets, it didn’t wow me. The people are amateurs. It was ok to kill time but wasn’t impressed.

  • A good performance

by JF on 2023-11-11Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 4 out of 5

During the event I was disappointed by the lack of recognizable Holiday songs, and I would have expected a few more “song-a-long” moments. However I left the event feeling like the performances given by the athletes and professionals involved in the show were mesmerizing and unforgettable. Overall very pleased, but somewhat lacked the Holiday hype I was personally expecting
