The sophomore full-length from Clairo, Sling is an album with its own charmed atmosphere, graced with the easy warmth of a far lovelier era but wholly the outcome of her bright & restless mind. In creating the body of work, the 22-year-old co-produced alongside Jack Antonoff, recording at Allaire Studios in Upstate New York. As Clairo reveals, Sling’s lyrical element was largely informed by the adoption of her dog Joanie. “When I got Joanie, I started changing my routines & habits to healthier ones, to try to create an environment where she felt comfortable & happy, It made me realize I hadn’t been doing that for myself, & that I need to look at myself with the same respect that I’d give to someone I care about.” Several tracks feature background vocals from Lorde, “Blouse” offers a meditation on the degrading behavior of men in power. “I think a lot of people know that feeling of having to compromise a part of yourself in order to be heard, you finally get to where you’ve hoped to be for so long, & there’s just this guy looking down your shirt.” Her sophomore album, Sling provided countless moments of revelation for Clairo. While a number of guest musicians contributed to the album’s arrangements, most was handled by Clairo & Antonoff. The result is a perfect setting for Clairo’s songwriting, allowing abundant space for her nuanced exploration of mental health, unmet expectations, and the struggle to treat ourselves with gentleness and love.

    Clairo sounded 100 times better in person and I just love the history venue. All staff are very nice there and usually hand out water to the fans! Claire has an amazing voice and the band was amazing the only sad thing is that 2/3 of the way through she had to stop then went on to play the next night before canceling the rest of the tour. It was for medical reasons so no blame to her I just wish that they even played some of her songs pre recorded or something because the most popular ones were not played and it would have been really nice to just be with a bunch of people who all love her. The concert was absolutely beautiful the visuals on the screen and everything it was a great show overall even though it had to be ended early <33

    I could barely see the stage. Sound haptics were awful and you could barely hear her. She could not connect with audience and not much stage presence. I don’t recommend. Sounds better on the iphone.

    she’s so cute!!! and genuinely such a good performer everything about her set was perfect other than it ending early but that was for medical issues so totally understandable! aside from that it was great - everything started on time, the venue ( history toronto ) was super well organised and the security was helpful but not overbearing overall a great show and i’d love to see her live again and finally hear sofia lol

    Absolutely no stage presence from clario, basically put the crowd to sleep. Plus she ended the show mid way through her set and didn’t even get to play any of her actually decent songs. Waste of money

    i went both toronto nights and the show was absolutely incredible. i managed to get side barricade both nights which gave me an incredible view. clairo was such an amazing performer and she sounded incredible live. sad that she had to cut her set 2/3 of the way thru night two but i hope her ear feels better <33

    i really didn’t expect to enjoy this concert as much as i did but she has such an amazing stage presence and the venue was so great for her. 10/10
