About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

We had third row seats on the floor, really enjoyed the show, Mr. Black is a great entertainer and goes with the flow. There was a glitch with the background screen and he just went with it and continued playing. We did not care about the background screen, he kept us entertained throughout the show. We travelled from Vancouver Island to attend the show and it was well worth it. We have been fans since the beginning and he did not disappoint. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a evening of awesome music. Sidenote* (We had to get security to get two(very entitled selfish and rude) women in the second row(in front of us and others) to sit down, they were blocking quite a few peoples views. Please ensure that this doesn't happen at concerts as we all pay to see the show). Being that they were in the second row on the floor there was no need of this, they had unobstructed views.

We were super fortunate to see Clint Black at the Abbotsford Events Centre. Great venue with easy parking and friendly staff! Clint Black was absolutely amazing...what an Entertainer! He told some great stories of the people he met through the years. He introduced his band members who are amazing musicians, how they met and who wrote songs with him. Also, his opening act Carolyn Dawn Johnston...she's FABULOUS!! I have seen her three times and her voice is amazing! Excellent evening of storytelling and fabulous music!!

Clint Black was excellent. His music and voice have not changed one bit. Still sounds as good today as he did in the 80s. Very funny and entertaining. Would see him again.

From Aaron Goodman's opening act to Clint's great performance, it was an awesome time. Both performers were entertaining but I really enjoyed seeing Clint perform again. He's a class act.

  • New Man in Black

by KaLoPo on 2013-10-21McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

First 20 minutes had Clint seated accompanying himself on the guitar, then the band came out onstage and livened up the show. Clint talked about his personal life and had some comedic anecdotes about other performers he has worked with,

  • by Babsu on 2013-10-20McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black is a great entertainer, he has a really nice balance between singing and talking between his songs. I enjoyed how he spoke about each song before he sang it. He is funny and likes his audience to interact with him. I also enjoyed the first part of his show when just Clint Black was on stage, just him and his guitar!!! Awesome Concert!! We would go again anytime!!!

  • Clint Black does it again!

by Bronna on 2013-10-20McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Clint at McPhillips Street Station in Winnipeg on October 17th. It was my third time seeing Clint in concert. He does not disappoint. He played for approximately an hour and a half continuously. Very admirable considering he played his own guitar and harmonica throughout. Has a great entertaining way wiith his "That's a true story" jokes. I have always loved the lyrics of Clint's songs. I'm not sure everyone realizes how wordy and witty his tunes are. Very clever. I will definitely go to see Clint every time he comes to town!

  • Country Crooner Hall of Fame Show

    by chooch261 on 2013-10-20McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Great show by a country legend. Started right on time and was a very tight show, well played and you can tell this group has been together for a long time. Even with a single encore it was over in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Lots of music and not much talk.
