About

Coast City Country is a Canadian country music festival in Vancouver, British Columbia that launched in 2024. The inaugural lineup featured headliners Luke Bryan, Nickelback and Dierks Bentley as well as rising country music stars such as Bailey Zimmerman, Brett Young, Walker Hayes and Elle King. The two-day main event was held on April 19 and 20 at Vancouver’s downtown multi-purpose stadium BC Place on the north side of False Creek. Along with an on-site craft beer and whiskey festival, outdoor BBQ smokehouse and parties and installations throughout Vancouver over the weekend, Coast City Country was complemented by late-night programming at the historic Commodore Ballroom between April 18 and 20 with performances by Kameron Marlowe, Travis Denning, The War and Treaty and more.

    Best party ever!

by Kelsey on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

Loved the line up, I had such a great time! Getting in was easy and smooth which is exactly what you want, no one wants to miss a song due to lines. Only feedback would be have more merchandise booths and more drink areas open for less waiting can't wait for next year!!!

    Well organized fun weekend

by IonaS on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

Overall BC place and the organizers did a great job with this event. The outdoor stage and drink tents were a great idea on the sunny Friday, and the atmosphere was fantastic! They had a lot of really great performers, I would have preferred a proper country Artist instead of Nickleback on the Friday to close out the night. The shows on Saturday were much better with two amazing artists closing out the weekend. Unfortunately the floor area was super empty for most of Friday which was unfortunate for the performers on stage. The swag looked really good but it sold out really quickly, so hopefully they will have more stock if they do this festival again. We will definitely go again if they bring this back!

Sound quality was horrible. Great head liners

    by D97 on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

We literally left during nickle back couldn’t tell what song was what. Couldn’t hear Chad just base. Day 2 was slightly better but overall sound quality was beyond disappointing.

    Meh

by Hannah on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

The performances were great! I thought BC place did a great job, it was the behaviour of the fans that were the real problem and made the venue look bad.

    Great shows, weird rules

by Liz on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

What an awesome line up! I’ve never been to a concert at BC Place before. It seemed like they were ill-equipped to handle the crowds so we were unable to easily go to the outside stage after about 6pm, as it was probably a 30+ minute line. There were strange rules about “soft-sided bottles” being allowed in; my disposable plastic bottle was deemed too hard and my friend wasn’t able to bring in the lid to her bottle. However some vendors sold drinks with a lid and others provided drinks in metal cups! The show and talent were great! Loved the big screens so we could see better. The sound quality was intermittently quite poor, and never that good, though it was still fun to be in attendance. Would go again. Tickets were a bit pricey, and it was a slap in the face to see people be able to buy single day passes after I bought a weekend pass. Hopefully good lessons were learned and the second Coast City Country show will be even better!!!

    JOSH ROSS!!!

by Into Tall Boys on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

JOSH ROSS!!! Canadian Country Singer-Songwriter!!! Every lyric sung with his heavenly voice, full of passion and rock-grit, full-bodied and projected. Rocked out on the electric guitar, brought it in slow with the acoustic. Sang his greats, new and of course Iris. First Taste of Gone, On a Different Night, Trouble, …all the lyrics us woman hope are ex’s have thought! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! He’ll be headlining in record time! Humble interaction with his audience, signing autographs on stage, full use of the center stage, addressing the upper levels, getting low to sing directly to side stagers. Floor tickets a must!! BC Place is a big venue, was nice to be up close and personal! Bar and washrooms on floor level. Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Dylan Marlowe were all top notch! Missed Niko Moon as he performed on the outdoor stage overlapping with Josh Ross (which I wasn't going to miss a moment of). Would have preferred Niko Moon on before Dylan:)

    Too much smoking going on

by Bunky on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

There was weed, vaping , and straight cigarette smoking all around and it was unpleasant to breathe and hard in the eyes

    Friday night sound

by BLK on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

All in all, it was pretty good for the first festival. I went mostly to see Nickelback and the sound was awful. The band that was on b4 him, I didn't understand a word of it but he looked good. :) Saturday was a huge improvement.

Fun country festival - good first run!

by MegsVic on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

Fun event overall with awesome musical acts, wish there had been a backup plan for the outdoor area on Day 2 when it rained. Would love to see this event happen in May so it's a bit warmer. Since the event didn't sell out, I think it would have been better for them to close the 400 section until the floor and lower sections sold out and then open it up for ticket sales if needed.

    Super Fun

    by Chima006 on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

Coast city was a lot of fun and also decently priced. I would recommend having more merchandise available and better seating for the floor (rows were crowded).

    Great Music, but…

by Dave on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

Overall the event was a lot of fun. The artists that were selected were great. We brought the whole family from the Interior to enjoy the weekend event. Some areas that need improvement in the future include: The event has huge potential as a westcoast “stagecoach” equivalent, but it was not well promoted. I wonder how many people made the trek from Calgary or Edmonton? My guess is not many, otherwise it would have sold out. Just by pure luck my daughter came across an ad for the event. There were lots of empty seats which takes away the energy. BC Place is too big unless you can fill the seats. The sound in BC Place is not great and it echos. This is probably worse when the stadium is half empty. Rogers would have been a better venue. Also, the food choices were not great. There were only a couple food trucks at Terry Fox Plaza. Line ups were long and there was only 1 truck that sold BBQ (which was promoted). The drink selection was limited as well. The Bacardi stand was closed at 8 even though there was a long line up waiting. Better promotion and marketing across BC and AB would have pulled in more people giving this event the critical mass it needed to draw in more vendors and fill the seats and give the event more energy.

    Amazing weekend

by Kick up the boots 👢 on 2024-04-23BC Place - Vancouver

What an amazing time at the Coast City Country fest 2024. Can this be every year? The lineups were amazing and kept the crowd on their feet. Can we go back to all general admission concerts for the floor ? The screens in front and side of the stage was perfect. Didn’t miss a beat when sitting in nose bleeds.
