Very much enjoyed this professional production. The performers are talented and obviously worked very hard to prepare. If you like Motown you will love this.
Fantastic performers Great singing Good pacing Great outfits Attractive cast Great band
What a great night. Motown revisited. Singing was excellent and choreography was just as good. I would go again in a heartbeat and highly recommend the show.
Fabulous show, great singers and dancing, happy time.
The music was great but there seemed to be issues with the sound
Exceptional all the way around. The band (5); Performers (4 males, 3 females); the costumes; the music and the choreography (WOW). 43 full length songs. Good nods to Miracles, Temptations, Supremes, 4 Tops, Diana Ross, Martha and the Vandellas; Lionel Ritchie. Top rate gowns and wigs, great acting and very talented dancers as well as singers. The sound was off a couple of times. I see that is a common comment. The sax guy had a flute solo that went unheard. Sometimes the females were to soft. But, the enthusiasm, professionalism and talent was so powerful, the technology was the only drawback.
Great show. Cast was very enthusiastic and music was fantastic!
Would've liked all the songs to be among the most popular, whereas about 60% of songs were ones that I had heard before. However, the singing and music were well done, albeit music a bit loud.
We were looking forward to a great night of oldies but we were disappointed. Some of it was pretty good but then some songs we had never heard and a couple of the ladies voices were not that good. Enjoyed 1/2 of the evening but would not go to it again.
Dancing in the streets delivered as promised, Motowns great hits. The performers were outstanding. They kept the energy high throughout the night. Their voices were excellent and the dancing was just like the old Motown acts. We did notice some technical problems during the show where the voices were drowned out by the band and it was pretty bad. This shouldn't happen at a venue Like the Jubilee Auditorium and at the price point that these tickets command.
The costumes were nice and energy of the performers was there, but I cannot comment on the singers as the sound was painfully loud and distorted for the entire performance. I literally stuffed kleenex in my ears. The female singers voices were drowned out by the excessively loud band. The microphones in general were not adjusted for the singers which spoiled the duets and group songs. I wondered where the the sound technicians were. I contemplated leaving the performance as it was simply not enjoyable. It was the first Edmonton music event I have attended where there was heckling asking the band to turn down the bass. Even then, no adjustments were made. The production company should consider compensating those who paid a lot of money to attend the show or come back and do it right .
The show was fantastic and I knew all the songs, but I know quite a few people in the audience wouldn't have been familiar with at least 6 of the songs as they were not at the top of the charts back then. I grew up with Motown in Toronto and I feel that the choice of some of the songs could have been different. There were hundreds of songs to choose from and artists, so I didn't understand the choices the music director made. Other than that, the sound mixing was off. The mics the singers were using were quite often "dead" - no bi-lateral to them. If the performers were not singing "directly" into the mics, we could not hear them, hence either change up the mixing or the mics. There are no dead spots in the Jubilee. It is well known for great sound. We danced, we laughed and our emotions were called upon. Great performers - well done.
We weren't quite sure what to expect - but boy were we pleasantly surprised. It was a fabulous show, got the audience involved and dancing around. You couldn't help but leave the Jubilee with a smile on your face. Thanks for one of the nicest date nights my husband and I have enjoyed in a very long time!
music was memorable .... a throw back to the 60s but sound quality was very poor. Too much bass and women's voices were almost inaudible in many of the songs. Except that it was live, I would have been better off playing my "Best of Motown" LPs and CDs; the quality would have been far better!!!!
good dancers and choreography very professional and handled themselves well
This performance was more than I expected. I have been to a lot of review shows and this Motown experience was fantastic! The tunes brought me back in time. Amazing and fulfilling. You'd be silly to miss it! Oh, and I was born in '72 but my parents always kept the love alive with this amazing music. A must see!
I can't fault the musicians for their performance at all, they played long and hard throughout the whole performance, they were the stars of the show if there was going to be any, Sure the singers/dancer performers. i believe it was like 10 in all, worked really hard at the performance and gave it their all. BUT, the lights and stage were LAME & PLAIN...choreography was off throughout, performance had no PUNCH. Apparently I expected a lot more from London. Sorry, we thought it sucked, save your money.
Was a great show, great songs super outfits, just like you where seeing it by the real singers. The only strike against them was that the brass was to loud or set too high, had a hard time actually hearing the words to the songs. Was turned down a bit at break.
Great choice of Motown songs . The band was way too loud -often we could not enjoy the individual voices of the singers. The mixing was not right for a small venue like the Jubilee Auditorium, it would have been OK in a hockey arena. We would have enjoyed the songs more if we could have understood the singers and their voices.
