    Motown Lives

by Gribbles on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

What a great show, two hours of solid entertainment, and what a list of hits Berry Gordy produced on his Motown label. The singers, 3 gals and 4 guys, all did a great job of bringing those hits back to life. This show is a must see for all Motown fans.

    Destroyed by Poor Sound Tech

by SimonS on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This had the makings of a great show - great material, good location, good performers BUT the sound tech had the balance so far out, the performers could hardly be heard over the base and the drums. Apparently the same happened in Calgary. When oh when are these sound techs going to learn? This was not a rock band. The audience was there to LISTEN to the performance. Whoever it was totally destroyed a good show. My advice - unless the organisers announce there is a new sound tech, give it a miss.

Loved every minute of this Motown extravaganza ! A very talented group of singers ! Great to see a "younger" generation bringing back the hits of my growing up years !!!

Great Talent - so so production

by VTH1 on 2016-03-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Didn't know what to expect with this show. Selection of music was great, great talent - but sound at the Jubilee is awful - there were either mic or mixing problems. The costumes were second rate - they could have been great - they didn't fit well, wrinkled - especially the ladies. There was no program to tell about the cast or the background of the show. And the plea to buy t-shirts at the end of the show was totally second rate.

    Very good performance

by collilar on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

We loved the Motown sound. At times, it was deafening. A little loud but, not unexpected. Male singers were 5 stars. Female ? 3 1/2 to 4. Got the crowd involved.

A wonderful trip down memory lane!

by Fanmiro on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I grew up with all of the Motown songs. I remember all the greats being on the Ed Sullivan show, especially The Temptaions and Diana Ross and the Supremes. Dancing in the Streets brought back all the great memories of all those great songs and performed them very well!

    Don't Dance in the streets

by BunnyBunny on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Wanted to leave at intermission...should have! Worst show ever. Too loud to start...too much base. Same thing over and over!

    Sound Engineer out to lunch

by dragonzzz on 2016-03-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This show had so much potential...the performers gave it their all. I have no idea what the sound engineer was thinking. The sound was so mismanaged that it ruined the entire experience. At times the music was so loud that the distortion levels were ridiculous. The singers voices were drowned out and the performance lost. I honestly didn't think this was possible in the Jube. It was so disappointing.

    Dancing in the streets

by Americanadian on 2016-03-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Singers dressed, danced and sang like the great Motown artists. They were very entertaining and our family enjoyed the show. They really Put a lot of effort to get the audience involved as well which was fun. Sometimes we couldn't hear the vocalist because band and piped in background singers were too loud. Overall a great show.

    Ok

by afanofmotownmusic on 2016-03-08Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We found the performance to be enjoyable but nothing more. Found many of the tunes to be a little off and not quite at the correct tempo. Did not like the imitations of Stevie Wonder. Found it in bad taste. Having said the negatives, the evening still was enjoyable and a pleasant event but not amazing!

    Great night

by jrforger on 2016-03-08Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Good entertainers who get the audience involved. Our group enjoyed themselves were pleased to have attended. We collectively thought there could have been more security presence to prevent audience members from getting on stage.

    poor sound quality

by BbKkCc on 2016-03-08Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Great performance, great singing, great band. Quite possibly the worst sound I've have ever experienced. Could not hear the sax and it was a stretch to hear guitar. All bass and drums with a touch of key board. What a shame, this could have been a 5 star performance.

    so so

by ringyding on 2016-03-08Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I have been to other Motown shows and this was was not up to par. The costumes were a little tacky and with a singing cast of 7, it just did not seem to hit the mark. The audience was raring to jump up and dance but there were very few moments provided for this. The six piece backup band was too loud.
