Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Tickets

We have been attending DJD dance productions for years and were greatly looking forward to this yearly event; it sure didn't disappoint! Very entertaining and superbly executed by amazingly talented dancers, this show also featured fantastic live musicians, a component that is always such a treat at DJD productions. In the second act, some very cool video effects were added to set a different mood to the room for the rest of the show. Kudos to the dancers for their incredible hard work and to everyone else involved in providing us with another memorable evening of high-quality entertainment! Long live DJD!

As always this DJD show has great energy and great vibe but lacks serious star power. The company is not looking at its best. I miss when they still do grand and fancy productions like Longing for the Invisible and Bulla! and excellent, beautiful and elegant dancers like Natalie Poisson, Jamie Marr, Kim Cooper (when she still dances) and Sarisa Toledo. The most stand-out piece for me is C-Leg which is choreographed by 605 Collective, the only refreshing piece in the show. I also found video projection is distracting. With shows like So You Think You Can Dance, audiences are more and more educated about dance. I just don't feel like I am watching a professional production. There is now wow moment. I think DJD needs to do some serious thinking and make some artistic direction change and bring back their charm.

Excellent show, so much fun! The dancers are exceptional! The band is amazing. Loved every minute, wished is was longer!

This innovative show brought together such a wide range of styles and movement, all to the amazing grooves of the talented band. In Part 1 I felt like I was at a world-class jazz festival; in Part 2 I was enchanted by the marriage of videography, music, and motion. Where do the dancers get so much energy! Really nice job overall.

I liked the variety in the pieces. Each dancer had an interesting interpretation of the music. The staging was simple, and fit with the venue. The dance moves were clean and fluid. It was a great afternoon.

Loved much of the performance but found the thanking of sponsors a little much I loved the introductions of the dancers. Jackie is pretty amazing. I have been attending these shows with my daughter pretty much every year for 15 + years and this was not the best one.

Superb dancing and singing, World-class athletes with rhythm.The most enjoyable DJD production I've ever been to.

I was going to take my grandbabies to this show and ended up getting 2 more kids and 2 more adults to come along as well because I had a feeling everyone would like the show, And we all did. It was amazing right from the get go. Jackie's singing, the band, the dancers - incredible. I couldn't not get the smile off my face the entire time. Thank you DJD for another great show. We all look forward to the next.

My husband and I enjoyed it tremendously. We felt part of the troup - right up close and personal at seats AA12 and 13. Very well done and professional.

Jackie Richardson had an amazing presence, the dancers were uniformly exciting, and the musicians were stellar. However, I found the "explanation" portion to be awkwardly handled. The demonstration of how improvisation unfolds was engaging, in and of itself, but the talk introducing and surrounding this part of the show was awkward and brought the energy down, breaking the spell. I also thought the mention of the different sponsors with each piece was also a bit off putting. These things are my only reason for not giving the show 5 stars.

Excellent mix of choreographed and improvised dance, accompanied by incredibly soulful singing, and talented musicians. One of the few times I've been happy to give a standing ovation. You can't help but leave the performance feeling artistically and emotionally enriched.

Loved it! My daughter and i sat center- front row! WOW! It was so great. Jackie Richardson has such a power house of a voice and personality. The dancers are...what can I say...the BEST! Can't wait for your next show. We go to all of them and sadly, there are just too few!

As usual, DJD provides fabulous entertainment. Every performance I've seen has been very unique and a joy to watch. The addition of a talented live band and blues/jazz singer was the icing on the cake.

Once again DJD proves that it is a cultural institution that makes Calgary a better place to live. Extremely talented dancers, musicians, and singers from around the world that have chosen to live in Calgary because of DJD. I feel so fortunate that I am able to see such a talented bunch on a regular basis and that my kids are able to be exposed to such talent and to attend their summer camps.

Every year DJD improve exponentially, Calgary is blessed to have such a great dance group. Jacki Richardson was a great addition to the show.

Outstanding show, well worth the price of admission and liked it so much I am going back with my kids this weekend.

I thought the dancers were amazing, however, the music was so loud I had a headache by the time i left.

We really enjoyed the show. I like the fact that it was broke up into lots of different dances. The tap dance part was the best part for me, it was very cool.
