Defeated Sanity have experimented in the deepest depths of extreme death metal over the course of their three-decade career. Founded in Bavaria, Germany by the father-son duo of late guitarist Wolfgang Teske and drummer Lille Gruber in 1993, Defeated Sanity expanded to a full band to release their first demo in 1996. They then underwent several lineup changes before releasing their debut album Prelude to the Tragedy in 2004. The elder Teske left the group in 2008 and died from cancer two years later. Gruber forged ahead as Defeated Insanity signed to Willowtip Records and released four more albums: Chapters of Repugnance (2010), Passages into Deformity (2013), Disposal of the Dead/Dharmata (2016) and The Sanguinary Impetus (2020). In 2023, the band coalesced around the lineup of Gruber, vocalist Josh Welshman, bassist Jacob Schmidt and guitarist Vaughn Stoffey.
