    Too Bad

by VeryOldGuy on 2009-09-28Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

Sound was terrible, way too loud, could not hear the music or the lyrics most of the time. We left at about a half hour into the show. I have always liked Dr Hook, his music and lyrics. I looked forward to seeing him in a live performance. I was disappointed that is didn't sound anything like the Dr Hook CDs I have. Just a loud noise the made my head buzz. The audience was mostly an older age group, why treat us like that.

    Dr. Hook at Red Robinson

by gingerpop on 2009-09-22Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

He's a little older (but aren't we all) but still has good energy and lots of fun. Problem was the periodic screeching of the sound system. I thought sound systems should be much better than that. Maybe the bands should lower their volume a little so they don't drown out the singers as their voices aren't as strong as they once were and the instruments just don't age. This has been a problem at many venues. But even with the sound problems Ray still Rocks!

by Bernie13 on 2009-09-21Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

It was was one the best show I have ever seen. I'd been waiting to see Dr.Hook for more then 25 years and I was not let down in the least. My husband really enjoyed the show as well and we would go see then once a month if we could!

Dr Hook was better left a memory

by Calley on 2009-09-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

After seeing the show and getting a warm fuzzy feeling watching all the oldtimers (me included) get lost in their memories I found little else about the performance enjoyable. The music was way to loud, and singing was replaced with shouting. There were long periods with nothing happening. I realize that "Dr Hook" is getting on but it is not nice to leave a performance with a ripped off feeling. The venue was great and while it was a first for me it won't be the last. I will just be more selective and do a little more homework before buying tickets. After watching Tom Cochrane smoke the stage non stop with only two backup players at the PNEI don't believe it is age that is the issue.

    Dr. Hook

by jennyjen on 2009-09-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I was impressed Dr. Hook sang every song with ease and confidence just as though he were back in the 60's. Loved Sylvia's Mother and some other old great songs he wrote. It was fabulous and worth every penny!

Dr. Hook was a little disappointing

by dillissen on 2009-09-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The band itself was great and entertaining but the sound was not great. Too much feedback made it unbearable at times.

    Dr Hook: great show

by bruhn on 2009-09-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The show was relatively short by pop group standards and seemed to be even less so when they stopped after having performed for just under one hour. Thanks to a standing ovation by a very responsive audience, they returned for an 'encore' which lasted for about 30 minutes. There was no intermission and I liked that. I prefer a good, strong performance featuring the songs which made a group popular, regardless of the duration of the show, rather than a long, draggy one. The only complaint I have relates to the sound system. The music was loud but less clear than it could have been, especially with regard to Ray Sawyer's vocals. And, there was feedback from the mics on more than one occasion.

    Ray Sawyer still has heart!!!

by Spricey on 2009-09-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The venue was comfortable, the seats were great, the band was not bad. I think Dr Hook has some of the best songs ever written...ie; Sharing the Night Together, Only 16, When Your in Love with a Beautiful Woman, Sylvia's Mother, and of course The Cover of the Rolling Stone...and Dr Hook didn't disappoint, they played them all as well as many other well known songs. Ray's voice has aged and he doesn't really have the range anymore but boy he sure has the character. He was fun and friendly, he chatted at bit. He stopped and signed an autograph to a particularly annoying, persistent fan. A good thing really or she would have driven him nuts and we all would have suffered. My biggest complaint has to be the frequent loud screechy feedback we were forced to endure during several songs. Sometimes the feedback screech so loud and so much I really missed the performance. That part was too bad. You would think by now these kind of problems would be all worked out. But all and all this 90 minute show was pretty good. It brought back lots of memories. I noticed that after the show Ray Sawyer took the time to shake/touch the hands of all the many fans lined up by the stage. Very Nice.

    Fabulous

by Marcel on 2009-09-19Century Casino - Edmonton

Dr. Hook was fabulous. He hasn't changed in 30 years. Seating and people there were great. More waitresses needed to serve drinks.
