Detroit Lions Team History
The Detroit Lions haven't always been the Lions. In 1934, George A. Richards, a radio executive, purchased the Spartans, a team from Portsmouth, Ohio. After the $8,000 purchase (a huge sum at that time), he moved the team to Detroit. In only their second year as the Detroit Lions, the team won the 1935 NFL championship, beating the New York Giants 26-7 at the University of Detroit Stadium.
During the 1950s, the Lions enjoyed some of the most successful seasons in their history, winning three league championships against the Cleveland Browns in 1952, 1953 and 1957. Divisional titles came again in 1991 and 1993.

Detroit Lions at Ford Field
The 65,000-capacity Ford Field consists of 1.85 million square feet and has four levels of suites, a level of club seating, and a ground level designated for concessions and retail. It also has some of the best sight lines of any football stadium in the United States, made available by a design that omits the traditional club and suite levels, thereby lowering the upper level.
In 2017, the Detroit Lions announced a $100 million investment into stadium renovations. Updates to The New Ford Field included a complete overhaul of Ford Field's audio/visual guest experience with new video boards to ensure easy viewing for fans in all corners of the stadium, an upgraded sound system, as well as renovated stadium suites and premium club areas.

This game was my first NFL game ever. Ford Field is a real nice stadium. Seeing the Lions and Steelers battle it out was awesome! Even with the seats being in the 300 level, they were still good seats and didn't miss any of the action. The only downside was the unwanted workout of standing up 50 times for people to pass by.
Great place to watch an NFL game. The fans were very hospitable and very friendly..Two thumbs up to the Lions fans. P.S. I was wearing a Steelers jersey.
Had an absolutely great time. Was a lot closer game than all the "experts" predicted. Seats were fabulous.
Great game, great stadium, great seats...It was like going to both Detroit and Pittsburgh, since there were more Steeler fans than Lions backers! Fantastic event. The NFL is on a whole other level from other sporting events.
Good seats and it is all you can eat. As we would have been eating anyway, we ended up saving a ton of cash compared to stadium prices. The food is not fantastic, it is stadium food, but a good value for the money.
Just wanted to say that Ford Feild is amazing! All sight lines are great and the atmosphere is electric! If you get the chance to see a lions game it will change your mind on the NFL all together. I would not recomend the all you can eat though as it is not that great. The hot dogs are pre done and the menu is not very extensive.

Ford Field is a world class venue! The people of Detroit were fantastic, and it was well worth the drive from Toronto. We stayed in Windsor and took a convenient bus right to the stadium! I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to experience the NFL for all its worth!
The Lions are improving every week especially the defence, if they continue with this trend all Lions fans are going to have a fun year.
Tailgate party in downtown Motor City, and then watch the Lions win their first game since Dec. 23, 2007 against the hated Redskins. It doesn't get any better than that. Buying tickets online was painless, and every minute of the event after that was perfect too.
I got to go to the Lion's first win in a year and half! I got best available tickets through ticketmaster and they were inexpensive and still awesome seats!! It was a great day!
Awesome game!! Glad I was there to see the streak broken. Great crowd, great stadium. The Lions will go 14-2 this season and host the NFC championship game!!!!!
Ford Field was excellent, traffic and parking was manageable, and the game itself was terrific. I can't wait for the next game.
Very enjoyable game even though I am a Redskins fan. It was good to see the Lions fans supporting their team in spite of the long loosing streak.
Ford Field is awsome, the atmosphere was great, the downside of the day was the Detroit Lions losing their 18th straight game dating back to last season. Nevertheless I still had a great time.

Watching Favre, Peterson, and Johnson makes for an exciting afternoon. The tailgating beforehand was icing on the cake. Can't wait to watch my Browns get their first win over the Lions in November.
Ford field was great, nice clean stadium easy to find and park and everyone was really cool. Will go again to Detroit. Tickets were purchased online and did a will call at the stadium, very easy to get my tickets, no line ups and no hassle. Will buy online again.
