Dido was born Dido Florian de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong in London on Christmas day 1971. She was interested in music from an early age, and after stealing a recorder from school at age five her parents enrolled her in a music program. After learning the piano and violin she began to record demos with her producer brother Rollo, and before long she had landed a deal with Arista Records. She made her album debut in 1999 with No Angel, an international sensation that topped the charts in five countries and launched her to superstardom with hit singles like "Here with Me" and "Thank You". Her 2003 sophomore album Life for Rent was another success, topping charts around the world and going on to sell more than 13 million copies. After releasing her Grammy-nominated third album Safe Trip Home, Dido took a hiatus from the spotlight. She returned in 2013 with her fourth album Girl Who Got Away, a critical and commercial success that she supported with another acclaimed world tour.
