It was just fantastic! I can’t wait for the next one.
Great list of tracks, and I appreciate seeing the conductor once again after 8 years, when I last attended Distant Worlds here in Calgary. I’m also proud to have given a shout-out at the end of their track for FF13 “Blinded By Light,” which is my most invested FF game and trilogy. Last but not least, I was so impressed with their track Dynamis for FF14 “Endwalker” that I fell in love with the entire soundtrack within days after the concert. Now I wish I had bought the CD when it came out, instead of having to buy it on the Square-Enix store and wait for it to arrive.
The songs brought back memories from when I was a kid playing the game and more recently memories with my wife also. Concert scaled across all the final fantasy's with a little FF7 rebirth as a surprise! Thank you for stopping in Calgary!
I'll start off by saying the orchestra and conductor did a great job and the music was fantastic. No complaints there is you are a fan of Final Fantasy. However, the merchandise table and production value leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the merchandise available is stuff you can acquire from other sources for a much cheaper price. Also at our venue the merchandise was not limited strictly to ticket holders so that created huge lines. The video presentation was fine, but dated and I would have appreciated more interaction between the audience and Arnie. More history of the music, or the games or even just some more fun elements with the audience. Overall it was fine, but it could have been great!
The Jubilee just isn't a great venue. Poor acoustics and audio mixing (giant curtain didn't help) muted the dynamic range of the orchestra and choir. It felt like the performers also struggled to hear themselves as there were some missed cues, mixed tempos, and the orchestra didn't seem to be in sync as much as they could have been. With that said, the program was enjoyable, with many fan favourites, and the interactive encore was entertaining. It was also exciting to hear the debut of XVI pieces in concert, though I was disappointed with the accompanying visuals as they basically depicted the same story moment three times. I think they could also have mixed up the XVI program with something slower for the second piece -- three bombastic pieces in a row dulled the overall experience in my opinion. All that said, I will definitely buy a ticket to future Final Fantasy concerts. Hopefully, they return to Jack Singer instead of the Jubilee.
Exceptional concert from start to finish. Looking forward to when they return
This was an amazing show and I'm already looking forward to going again. Wish they played some older FF music over the lot FFXIV music or more of a balance instead of newer heavy. Otherwise loved the show and will be going back again.
Just wished it lasted longer, with more songs played. Overall an amazing moment to cherish!
The Distant Worlds orchestra was brilliant! So great to hear live the music that I grew up with.
Had an amazing time listening to some of my favourite songs from the different series in some amazing arrangements. Worth the money to see the 100 person ensemble together.
