  • Great performance, bad location

by BevB on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

The sound and performance by the Philharmonic and Singers were excellent. I understand this is the first time Winsport has been used as a venue. It is not a good venue. There is only one road in and one road out so having thousands of attendees trying to find parking is not great. The venue itself is a fire hazard. The hundreds of people with floor seats had 2 small staircases to exit. In the event of a fire, it would have been chaotic and potentially tragic.

  • A truly memorable night!

by Leo on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The performance & atmosphere was truly impeccable. Certainly did John Williams' score justice and brought the movie to life! The choir and bonus Christmas carol at the end was a nice touch 😊 Thank you for a memorable night!

  • Great music

by Danielle on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

The show and performance were excellent, but the venue was not. Having so many people on the floor, and charging more for these tickets, people can not see the movie screen as well as the stadium seats. Also the floor seats only had two exits up and out of the stadium. Seems like chaos if there were an emergency exit needed.

  • Great event, Venue wasn't as good as usual

by KevinMc on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

We like to see the Symphony Christmas movie every year to kick off the holiday season. This event has always been at the Jubilee Auditorium. The event was changed to WinSport this year which was not an improvement. The screen was small and far away, and the volume of the movie could have been louder. The entrance aisle to the floor seating was beside our seats, so we were unable to see the first 15 mins of the movie as there was a steady stream of late people blocking our view and they shuffled down to their seats. Near the end of the movie, there was a steady stream of people leaving early blocking our view again. We were unsure how well the symphony would sound in a hockey arena, but they sounded great! The addition of a choir was great!

  • Home Alone Philharmonic

by Bear on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Such a fantastic showing. The movie is incredible and a Christmas classic but add on the philharmonic and wow it was spectacular. Really enjoyed by our whole group.

  • Great Experience, Ok Venue

by Sonja on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Movie in concert was phenol as per usual. The venue wasn’t the best. Musically speaking these sound better at the Jubilee Auditorium; and the volume on the actual movie was a little low… might have been the number of people in the arena though. Bathrooms were also lacking in this venue. The intermission wasn’t long enough to accommodate the women’s bathroom line. Snacks were WAY better than at the Jubilee Auditorium. Overall a great afternoon!

  • Home Alone at WinSport

by Joyful on 2025-12-02WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful. Hubby & I loved it. We watch it year at home but this was a perfectly lovely experience, especially hearing the kids laughing!! You don’t realize that the orchestra is playing the (movie’s) music - it’s spirit on. What a lovely way to begin the Christmas season.

The Calgary Philharmonic is life changing for anyone who has a passion for music. What an amazing atmosphere.

  • Outstanding Performance

by CPO Dad on 2025-12-01WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

The CPO put on an absolutely phenomenal performance from start to finish. It was our children’s first visit to the CPO and I can confidently say that they’re hooked! I am thrilled to open this world of love performance orchestra to them and thank the CPO for a great way to kick off the holiday season. I reduced two stars for the choice of venue. The parking infrastructure and handling of volume on arrival and departure was very poor (it took approximately 45 mins to depart from our parking spot due to traffic congestion), and the venue was quite crowded and uncomfortable. I would happily pay a higher ticket price for the comfort and acoustics of the Jack Singer, Jubilee, or Ross Glen Hall. Despite the challenges, the CPO was exceptional.

  • Fun way to experience a fave movie AND the CPO

by Home Alone Fan on 2025-12-01WinSport Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

What a novel treat to see a longtime favourite movie alongside a live orchestra and choir! The venue was not ideal as the performers deserved a more respectful tone and the enjoyment of the music and movie were impeded by the popcorn/candy wrapper/chip bag/bathroom hand dryer! We will attend another movie/CPO combo for sure. But maybe at a different venue :)
