My boys are aged 14 and 18. Both enjoy Don Henley's solo songs and Eagles' music. I took my oldest son to see the Eagles a few years ago, and was looking forward to taking my youngest to see them the next time they came to Vancouver, Canada. With Glenn Frey's untimely passing, that dream was lost, so my husband and I decided to drive the kids down to Ridgefield, Washington to see Don's solo show. I generally only buy cheap seats where the artists are a fair distance away (we have to stretch our dollars with teenaged kids saving for university), but could only get fourth row seats at close to $100 US each. It was a rather expensive trip for us, but well worth it,
Don put on a great show, singing new songs as well as old, and telling a few stories along the way. His band was wonderful. His back-up singers were superb. My kids were overjoyed to see him from such great seats. We listened to Eagles and Don Henley music all the way back to Canada.
I want to thank Don for taking a hard line against taking photographs, videotaping, and standing during concerts. The first two can be a distraction when we're trying to enjoy a show. The third provided a lot of relief for me as I was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease at the age of 48 a few months ago. It's a combination of the symptoms of other autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, all of which make me tired and achy quickly. I assumed I'd be standing through this concert when I could only get fourth row seats. I was quietly dreading it as I knew I'd be aching the whole time, but being able to sit through the whole thing made the concert so much more enjoyable for me.
Thank you for a wonderful evening, Don.
