  • Amazing Show

by MarcusOB on 2009-07-20Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Sound was good, plenty of old and new stuff was played. Really enjoyed the set. I would love to see Doves again, and hope they come back to Vancouver soon. Venue was good, not too busy, but also plenty of atmosphere.

  • Concert of 2009?

by Hinchy on 2009-07-20Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Wow - amazing! This was the first time I'd seen the Doves, I knew of them but had not bought any previous albums. I bought Kingdom of Rust for my wife and loved it. There's not a bad track on the album, so couldn't wait to see them live. They were amazing - full of energy, amazing light show, great sound and they played for 2 hours. Great value. I would definately go and see them again - please tour Canada again next time!

  • Incredible show

by Joner on 2009-07-19Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

An excellent show by a great UK band. They should be way more famous than they are. Very tight band, a sonic blend of guitars, soaring vocals, and electronics. If you like UK bands such as Radiohead or Elbow, check these guys out, and don't miss them next time they are in town.

  • Doves are worth it!

by Midnightkisser on 2009-07-19Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The Doves show was midweek and like most people I had to get up early in the morning to go to work. I hemmed and hawwed and then bought the ticket. I have to share the fact that this show was well worth the cost and effort needed to drag my sorry butt out of bed the next day. They played a mix of new and old and it was apparent that the audience was extremely pleased as everyone was either dancing, nodding their head or listening with intent. This band is a good time. The music was captivating, energetic and wonderful. I am grateful for my intuition and Doves for making my evening at the Commodore a good one!

  • Worth every Penny

by BritCanGirl on 2009-07-16Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I didn't think I'd ever have the chance to see them play, so was pretty damn excited. The set list was fantastic...a perfect mix of old and new, and the crowd was lovin' it. It was one of those shows where the band lets the audience know that they're having the best time too and are so greatful and impressed by the support. Yay Doves! Can't wait to see them again.

  • What else would you expect?

by TGatts on 2009-07-15Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show.... love the new album - they played old favourites as well SNOWDEN, etc. Small venue is always a treat .... I hope they come back again for in the fall!

  • Doves at the Kool Haus were cool

by banquet on 2009-07-14Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

In the perfect fantasy, my first Doves show would be atop a New York City apartment building. The band, embraced by the shadows of nearby skyscrapers, would play under glowing electrical wires and a canopy of stars. It would be snowing but nobody would be cold. I would be with a girl who bought me the tickets -- she didn't tell me about them until that morning because she wanted to surprise me. I would marry this girl and the band would be at our wedding. They would be our guests, our most special guests, for they would be the reason we found one another.

  • 3rd Time's a Charm!

by thegoodluckfoundation on 2009-07-14Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Doves Concert at Kool Haus Jun 1st 2009 was incredible! It was my third time seeing Doves live and they were great. They played lots of their new material off of "Kingdom of Rust" which is the 4th effort from the Manchester trio. The new songs translated very well live which is was iffy given the slick production of the record but, as predicted, Doves did not disappoint. The band also played a very nice mix of older material including “Break Me Gently”, “Catch the Sun” and “The Man Who Told Everything” Black and White Town”, “Caught by the River”, “The Cedar Room” and set closer “There Goes the Fear”. For those who have never seen Doves live you must certainly be sure to check them out next time they are in town. Besides, with them being Brits and all they only seem to stop by every two years or so.

  • Doves deliver in Detroit!

by kevh on 2009-07-14Majestic Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Doves delivered (yet another) amazing and spirited performance to an enthusiastic Detroit audience. The band drew from their inspired catalogue and did not disappoint the appreciative Motown crowd. Highlights from the show (enhanced by a kinetic and arresting video backdrop) included "Kingdom of Rust", "The Outsiders", "10:03" as well as favourites such as "Black & White Town", "Here It Comes", "Pounding" and the grand finale "There Goes the Fear".
