The U.K.-based power metal sextet Dragonforce formed in 1999 around the twin-guitar assault of Herman Li and Sam Totman, keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, and the powerful vocals of ZP Theart; drummer David Mackintosh and bass player Adrian Lambert joined the lineup later. Dragonforce had already toured with the likes of Halford and Stratovarius before the release of their debut, 2003's Valley of the Damned. The success of that record earned the melodic rockers a worldwide audience, resulting in a string of sold-out concerts in Asia and Europe. The group's sophomore effort, Sonic Firestorm, was released in 2004, followed by Inhuman Rampage in 2006 and Ultra Beatdown in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
Concert that was awesome that I’m waiting for for DragonForce ones on my favourite band 🤘🖤🤘
I didn't know what to expect when I went to hear Dragonforce. The reviews are all so mixed, but I knew I wanted to hear them live instead of just on CD. I was not disappointed! I throw down the gauntlet to those doubters, those naysayers, those heretics who claim the guys can't Roar. Not only did they roar, they set the place on FIRE! The finger flying fast guitar solos, the lyrics, the synergy with the crowd . . .I could go on. Totman was amazing; Li was inspiring . . . Hudson was electric. All in all, the Dragon is not just alive, it is flying high and its Force is strong!
I very much enjoyed all three bands. Dragonforce was, by itself, worth the money.
This was one of the best events that i have been to!
Dragonforce @ MacEwan Ballroom Sept. 24/09. So here’s the deal. I like to get to shows early so I can catch all the acts and get up nice and close. This particular show I ended up hanging in the beer gardens with Sam from dragonforce and completely missed the opening acts. I did here 1 or 2 of Sonata Artica’s songs which are similar to Dragonforces sound. This show was also moved to a smaller venue, MacEwan Ballroom which holds about 900 people compared to MacEwan Hall which holds about 1600. I saw Dragonforce back in December and thought their show was much more entertaining. They also played in MacEwan Hall then with a max capacity crowd. I’m pretty sure the guys were not to happy about the turn out and being moved to a stage that could barly handle the entire band. I’m glad they still played a full show of about 12 songs. Hope a better crowd turns out next time.
Of course, the guitar was owned, and it blew my mind! Other aspects of the show weren't so appealing if you expect to hear it as if you were listening to their CD. But of course, thats not always the reason why you go to see bands live.
if you like great hormonizing and awsome solos check it out these guys rock their guitars like there's no tomorow
Just about as good as possible. Dragonforce were superb in every aspect of the show, the sound and lights were excellent, the volume level was near-perfect the entire night and the crowd was definitely there to rock. The transitions between bands were not too long (a common fault at many shows) and Sonata Arctica was a first-class opening band. About all I could say would be to open the doors earlier, so that the bands (especially an opening band of Sonata Arctica's calibre) could have more time on stage if they wanted.
I had previously heard that DragonForce put on a poor live performance, but after what I saw I will challenge anyone who says such things. Touring with great bands such as Sonata Arctica places a large amount of pressure on the headliner, especially with the ability of Tony Kakko to grab hold of a crowd, and not let go until everyone has gotten lost in the music. However, DragonForce rose to the occasion with album-comparable speed, an unnatural amount of talent, and an unforgettable keyboard solo between Vadim Pruzhanov and Henrik Klingenberg. Herman Li demonstrated why he is master of the fretboard, and Sam Totman showed why the band doesn't have just one lead guitar. Taking Dawn also deserves mention; I will personally be watching this band for great things to come in the future. Frontman Chris Babbitt has the voice, skill and energy to do great things in his career, and bass player Andrew Cushing is all you could ask for and more in terms of both talent, and stage performance.
Dragonforce sucks, ..MYTH!!!!!! Anyone who says Dragonforce can't play live....hasn't been to a live show. IT WAS MOST EXCELLENT!!!! (INSERT GUITAR RIFF) .
Coming from someone who went into this show blindfolded, I had never heard of Dragon Force, but I will not forget their name now...brilient show, I enjoyed every second of it...including the many crazy sick guitar solos, and the bands amazing cemestry on stage!!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect live, however, they delivered, and blew my expectations out of the water. Amazing performers.
It was a high paced event covering all of their material. What more could anyone ask for?
Amazing concert by Dragonforce! 2 Keytar Solo's and All major hits covered. Super fast riffs, done by both guitarists! Overall best concert of my life!
This concert was so amazing. Taking Dawn, never heard of them before, put on a fantastic set, so much energy. They're coming again soon to the Opera House. Will definitely see them there. Sonata Arctica played so well too. They are one of my favourite bands for sure. Dragonforce set the place on fire with an insane show! Got a couple picks, one from Dragonforce and one from Taking Dawn. My buddy and I got to go backstage! We got pictures with a bunch of different band members.
Overall the show at Sound Academy was great. The sound and lighting were exceptional for a venue of that size. The opening bands were awesome and Dragonforce certainly didn't disappoint. Dragonforce made sure to hit all their big numbers and crowd pleasers. There was lots of positive crowd reaction and involvement. Excellent entertainment value for a venue that cost a mere fraction of that for a stadium-sized event. I would go to another event like that one if I had the chance.
I have seen many concerts but the guys in Dragonforce take musical ability to a whole new level. They are quality entertainers and are one of those few bands who can actually sound amazing live. Even if you don't know the band, go see them and support talented musicians who will not let you down. They made it easy to see them by standing on these platforms...? which is something I have never seen in a concert before and extremely appreciated. GO NOW!!!
I found the whole concert with Dragonforce, SonataAttica and Taking Dawn was fantastic, high energy, musically flawless and I enjoyed it immensely. I have been wanting to see Dragonforce since they first came to Canada three years ago. They have been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them. Very lighthearted bantering amongst all the bands and you could tell everyone was very tight.
Saw DragonForce in Dec 08. That show was amazing. For 1 thing they played for a full concert. This time i'm pretty sure they didn't play 12 songs??? The show was scheduled to go to 11:55pm. We were one of the last ones to leave & we were out of the building @ 11:00pm. The last time they played a 4 song encore, this time it was 1 song... The music was good, there just was NOT enough of it. They are a good band, lots of energy, & alot of fun @ their concerts. Its just that for some reason this concert was extremely short??
Have always enjoyed DF's recorded work, yes it's rediculous but that's what power metal is all about. There's some bad buzz around about their live shows but if they once didn't live up to their recorded work that has definitely changed. This show was pretty amazing, Herman's guitar work may not be as clean as some of the extremely top end guitarists I've seen, such as Laiho, but o my god he makes up for it in rediculous speed. Never seen anything like it. Herman tends to steal a lot of the spotlight in the media from the other bandmembers but they should not be discounted, they performed great. Power metal is not for everyone but this band is the top of the genre. Show was a ton of fun, I am eager to see them next time I get a chance.
