    abduction into reality

by kimico on 2011-02-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

on a positive note it was nice too see such a range of people [age wise/cultural wise] at the opera & that they managed to make the opera so mundane that it appealed to the masses as a traditionalist, i found the evening completely insulting i do not watch tv, play on facebook or you tube - i am however familiar with these forms of entertainment as they are often critiqued in newspapers & mcleans magazine i had discontinued my subscription to the opera as i found the director too flamboyant for my taste. i now find him too mundane but wish him luck in continuing to please the masses with his opera for the working class

Another excellent production by the Edmonton Opera Company. Amazing sets and a versatile cast brought Puccini's famous opera to life.

    La Boheme was La Bomb!

by Vanillaface on 2010-10-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

So far I've been to see about eight operas, making me somewhat of a newbie when it comes to them, however I have to say the costumes, music and overall quality of this particular show have made it my current favourite. Bravo!!

    Voices were amazing

by Eldzilla on 2010-10-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was my first opera, mostly because my granddaughter was one of the street urchins. Went to the 'pre-show' talk, which helped with understanding the story. And loved the fact there were subtitles - made it much more enjoyable. Sets were amazing, as well as the performers, many of them Canadians! Would definitely recommend it to friends, and will likely attend another opera.

La Boheme is nothing short of 'Astounding'

by kmnic2 on 2010-10-26Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

La Boheme had the best sets I have seen in any Opera performance. What astounded me the most was how quickly they transitioned from set to set. La Boheme is the only Opera I attended that used more than one set. In addition, given the mere 3 minutes they used to transition between sets, it seems unfathomable how grand and spectacular the sets were. The show it self was magnificent, definitely a must see (number 2 most performed Opera in North America).
