About

Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

  • A beautiful souful artistic experience

by CharP on 2025-08-18History - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was a preview of their new album coming out. You didn’t know what you would hear and when it started it was a musical experience. The Alchemist created music in front of you while Erykah provided the amazing vocals. It was an amazing experience and I’m so happy I was able to be there. Phones were not allowed which enhanced the experience. At points I was closing my eyes just to take in her words. Do not expect to hear her older hits. This is really an end to end playing of their new album.

  • Amazing experience

Grateful to have experienced this. Can’t wait for the new album drop.

  • Erykah & Nas were incredible! They still got it!

by Chanti on 2015-10-05Chene Park - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

I forgot how many Erykah songs I liked, she sang really well. I missed most of Nas but he still did good. I found the venue to be very disorganized, I came all the way from Canada and didn't make it to my seat. We ended up standing in the Aisle because there were people everywhere, almost like they sold 2000 tickets for a 500 seat venue.

Great performances. Venue allows you to get your money's worth and interact with the artist.

  • A Class Act!

by AMFY on 2013-03-07Kool Haus - Toronto, Ontario CanadaRating: 5 out of 5

When it comes to Erykah Badu, She proves time and again why she's A Class Act! with no new music and still be able to pack a house .... There are not many out there that can still entice their fans to support them like Erykah Badu. Backed by a 6 piece band and 3 backup singers put out a solid show! With 2 laptops and drum machine, the sound was awesome you could hear every word like she was standing beside you and very clean. It was Mama's Gun on this night, front to back just an awesome performance. Anytime anywhere she comes to town....Here's your Money - Just give me my ticket Period. !!

  • Badu Killed it!

by MsSparks on 2013-03-07Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the fact that the concert started 1.5hr later, Erykah was awesome!!!!! Her voice was even better in person, she was very entertaining. I was left wanting more and wished she did more then one album. Definitely a must see.

Simply amazing. Erykah was on stage at 9:30 PM and performed the entire Mama Guns album plus a few tracks from Baduizm and Worldwide Underground. The set was over at 11:15 PM but it felt like she didn't want to leave! the energy from the crowd was great. I'm so glad I finally got to see her live!

  • AMAZING

I have been a fan for many years off and on. I was introduced to her by a friend of mine and although I don't know a lot of music intimately, I enjoyed every moment. She filled the Kool Haus with her love and coolness. Coolness I've never experienced before. A talent like no other. I was glad I went.

  • Eryka Badu was disappointing

She came out high on something and was not what I had hoped for.
