Too bad R Martin was absent when we went to see the show. Max von Essen had the role of CHE, he was amazing, did not miss Ricky Martin... Music was very well played. Decors were phenomenal. Cast was fantastic. Elena Roger electrifying!
The voice of the singer playing Evita is horrible!
The female lead on the other hand... was not. Couldn't decide if she was Edith Piaf on a bad day or she was just having a bad day. Martin was strong, but in retrospect, I should have listened to those who questioned the casting of the female lead. If I had have known there would be a different person on Matinees -- I would have gone to a Matinee!
Fabulous performances by Ricky Martin and Elena Roger in a wonderfully intimate theatre. Terrific to see Ricky in a dramatic role. And Elena: How can such a powerful voice come out of such a diminutive woman? A most enjoyable evening.
Evita is spectacular and Ricky Martin was super!!!!
So its still previews .. take this review with a grain of salt. Ricky as Che = amazing and the crowd certainly lets him know it. Michael as Peron = almost as popular and as good as Ricky. Elena needs some work but it is still previews so there is certainly time for the producers to do some work. Certainly worth seeing. The dancing alone is amazing and its the iconic music that you would expect with the added eye candy of Ricky Martin
