FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

    Fantastic and Entertaining

by Marquise on 2018-05-01Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I really enjoyed their set! It was so high energy, even though many people seemed to not know all of the songs everyone was out of their seat dancing or at least bopping along to the beat. They sounded great live. I could not believe all the energy they had! I was tired just watching them. I had a great time and I now always keep an eye out in case they are in the area. 100% would see them again.

Fitz and The Tantrums were fantastic!

    by Axel118 on 2016-09-02Union Hall - Edmonton

This is the second time I've seen them live, and they were even better this time, as the smaller venue and the fact that they were headlining allowed them to have more crowd interaction. They were loads of fun, had a lot of great energy, and really got the crowd into it. Definitely a band worth seeing and I hope they return soon so I can see them again!

One of the best live acts touring today

by refill on 2016-08-29Union Hall - Edmonton

This was my second time seeing this band live. The wham-bam vocal combination of Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs, the air-tight musicianship of the band, the staggering setlist of fantastic songs, and the relentless energy and generosity of everybody on the stage—everything combines to make this one of the best live acts touring today. Bonus points if you can see them in an intimate space like Union Hall. One of my most memorable musical nights out ever.

I went into this concert only knowing the songs I've heard on the radio, but knew it would be a good show. They did not disappoint and I left as a new big fan. They were upbeat, energetic and put on one of the best shows I've been to. The music was amazing, the atmosphere was fun and everyone in attendance was having the best time dancing and clapping and singing along. If you ever get the chance to see these guys live, do it!

    Lively show!

by archimedes on 2016-06-30The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

We enjoyed the show very much but the wait between Fitz and the Tantrums and the opening act was too long-one hour. Having said that, they are worth seeing!

Love their music, love them live. They are so upbeat, so full of energy, they get the audience moving and singing along. Played a good mixture of new and old songs. Played all the audience favourites. They were very appreciative of their fans. One encore which included Hand Clap and The Walker. Then a heartfelt thank you to the fans. Awesome feel-good show!

    Worth the 2 hour wait

by piralteqnix on 2012-09-08Virgin Mobile Mod Club - Toronto

The Unfortunate: This event did not start at 7:30. Either I'm a newb at concerts, and/or there was a reason for the delay which was never communicated to us ( for good reason ), but I almost left when the stage remained empty near 9:30pm. The Fantastic: However, I am glad I stayed. Fitz and the Tantrums smashed/killed it/blew it out of the box/whatever means "great" these days. Enjoyed the audience interaction, although I got pointed out for non-compliance ( I was standing on the balcony and got a "Hey you" from Michael ). Fitz and the Tantrums have terrific energy, and are fun in live performance. A great showcase of talents, especially James King and John Wicks that night. Noelle Scaggs raises the energy to fever-pitch with her enthusiasm. Really enjoyed it.

Fitz & The Tantrums energize the room

    by RJG4 on 2012-01-21Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Tons of energy and awesome crowd response. One of the best shows I've seen in a while. The vocals were drowned out a bit by instrumentation and could use a volume adjustment.
