GREAT SHOW! love ed's dancing! they seem very alive..like to move alot..which is great. makes the crow go wild! def worth seeing them!
Best live band I've seen EVER!!!! No fancy stage but very high energy band members...you can't help but dance all night long.
The entire show was amazing. Listening to The XX live is even better than listening to them on repeat every hour. Then Friendly Fires came on, and the entire crowd was chanting along to the sheer energy that was being exuded from the stage. It was was like watching todays version of Ian Curtis and Joy division, and anyone that can do that is pretty talented. GOO SEE THIS SHOW!
As an avid concert goer, I've seen every kind of show there is to see and what can I say about Friendly Fires? Absolutely epic! And even that would seem to be a bit of an understatement. As for the openers, can't say I was a fan of Holly Miranda but only because I was in the mood to dance. Maybe if she had opened for an artist like Justin Nozuka would I be ready for her set. But as for The XX, they were phenomenal! Hadn't heard much of their stuff prior to the show but have converted me as a fan for life. Overall, of the 30 something shows that I've been to, this show will be going down in history in the top 5 for me.
... the crowd that filled the Commodore dance floor, or the lead singer. Friendly Fires kept everyone rocking, smiles all around, while they plugged through their self-titled debut and added a couple of wicked tunes that aren't on the album- including Kiss of Life which really got people going. High energy, endless gyration, all-around impressive. The xx were incredibly solid openers (who could probably sell out the Commodore on their own, judging by the crowd's response). They commanded the crowd effortlessly, and their haunting tunes kept everyone captivated. To call them modest would be a gross understatement, as front man Oliver, thanked the crowd at the end of each track with a genuine toothy grin. In a nutshell the two bands complimented each other well, and the show was HIGHLY enjoyable!
Friendly fires was a GREAT show, but I wish they'd played longer. I think they were only on stage for 1 hour.
The Friendly Fires...they slaughtered us...banger after banger...Lovesick, Skeleton Boy, Kiss Of Life, Paris etc...etc...had us dancing from the jump to the end..
