With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”
A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.
Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.
Exceeded expectations. One of the best stand up shows we’ve seen in years. Very funny, entertaining & thoughtful.
Bella concert hall doors opened at 7, the start time written on our tickets. But we were seated an hour before the show started. Those ‘in the know’ continued to go out and visit the concession. We were told that the show was later than the time on our tickets because the performers wanted people in their seats (so no stragglers once the show started.). BUT because people were drinking for an hour and a half before Gary Gilman got onstage, there was a steady stream of people shifting others out of their seats on the way to the washrooms. I wish we’d been informed ahead of time because we were there at 6:30 and waited 1 1/2 hours before the show. He was worth it, but I would have planned accordingly had I known about the timing.
What a rare gift of pure joy Gary shares with his audiences! His delivery and timing are extraordinary, but he shares so much of himself. Wickedly smart, heartfelt, beyond endearing. My favourite comedian.
Gary Gulman is wonderful and we had a great time. One hour and 45 minute performance was mostly great, perhaps 15 minutes too long.
Gary is a brilliant comedian who somehow makes each show seem like a personal conversation. I learned, was touched, and — most importantly — I laughed out loud all evening!
I’ve always been a fan of Gary Gulman but as good as he is on late night shows his long-form performance was even better. I was impressed by his power of narrative, his humanity, and how amazingly funny he was. Great venue and opening act also made the experience memorable. Can’t wait to see him again.
Love this guy. So glad I got to see him live and would definitely go again when he returns. So funny!
Gary was outstanding - NEVER miss a chance to see him. He is waay to smart for his own good. BUT The venue - if you haven't been to the London Music Hall - type in The London Club in your GPS or type in London Municipal Parking Lot 5. We drove around for 15 minutes trying to find it. The main entrance and the building is behind The London Club and behind the parking lot so it is basically invisible when you drive to the address. No signage at roadside. Idiotic. Check the Ticket Times! Our tickets said 7pm. What they did not tell us, after driving from an hour away on a Thursday to get there early was that 7p was doors open, the show started at 8pm. Nowhere on the tickets was the showtime clearly stated - so our 7pm show was now 8pm which we did not find out until we arrived. Grr. Otherwise - very casual venue but nice spot, easy to get good seats close to the performer, staff was very friendly and helpful. Beverage bar only - no snacks or food available for purchase inside the theatre.
Absolutely amazing. Super funny and smart. The Gul is a legend
Third time that I have been to one of Gulman’s stand up shows, and it won’t be the last. Non-stop laughter all night. My jaw hurt from laughing so much. I already have tickets to see him in Chicago in November and can’t wait. Plus I ordered his book. I have no doubt that it will be great as well.
