  • Gary Lewis and the Playboys

by heresjohnnie on 2009-11-14Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 5 out of 5

I went, didn''t know what to expect. Wow was I in for a shock first of all the opening act was unreal. The Hollies, Badfinger and BJ Kramer altogether all sounding fantastic. They looked a little older but don''t we all. Then Gary came out what an showman great music and great stories. If you didn't get a chance to go put it on your list for the next time they come to town.

  • Gary Lewis was just totally awesome

I'm so glad that these bands are keeping the 60's alive. Gary Lewis and his band were totally awesome. They played all their hits from the 60's. Gary was so funny and bouncing around, he has alot of energy. His band was totally awesome also. He mentioned that he loves the 60's music and wants to keep it alive, good on him. All in all, it was a very good show, I'd go see him again. Only thing bad, we were stuck in a chair all night, couldn't stand up and dance around, its hard to dance while sitting.

  • All performers were exceptional

What can I say? They were all great. The British invaders - were brilliant, they each had a standing ovation. Gary Lewis and the Playboys were outstanding, again the whole audience was captivated. All in all, a superb show

Gary Lewis was great (loved him then and love him now!) His band was amazing - especially the bass guitarist. Very unassuming but could he rock!!! Gary is still entertaining us after all these years - THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES!!!

  • excelent concert

by locovan22 on 2009-11-14Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was excelent. The music played by the musicians just took me to the sixties and a lot of good memories came to my mine. The guy from the hollies was excelent same the guy from bad finger. Gery Lewis and the playboys were awsome, that guitar player from that band is amasing. adios amigos.

I missed seeing Gary Lewis and Billy J Kramer and the Hollies and Badfinger in the 60's so it was a real treat to see them perform in one big 60's extravaganza. There were having fun and there were more hits played by these original singers in one night than the Yankees in their series win. Too bad the songs today are not even a shallow rip off of the 60's - they are nothing compared to the originality and good vibs of the sixties. Oh did I miss something, like 44 years.

  • Gary Lewis and the Playboys were fantastic!

by Henna on 2009-11-14Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 5 out of 5

I'm so thankful that Gary Lewis was finally booked at the Red Robinson Theatre. My brother and his wife flew in from Toronto to attend this concert. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show and can hardly wait until the next time they're here. Having the Liverpool Invasion as part of this concert was an unexpected and enjoyable experience!!

  • Shame on Gary Lewis and the Liverpool Invasion

by Nostalgianut on 2009-11-14Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 1 out of 5

Likeable fellows all and the music itself was OK, but people go to hear them sing the oldies as we remember them. Gary is a truly nice guy but his voice has changed and is no longer pleasing to listen to. Poor Billy J Kramer looked and sounded unwell. Joey Molland and Terry Sylvester are simply not good enough singers in the first place. Athletes know when it is time to hang them up or their coaches tell them before it is too late. These guys do a disservice to the public and strong acts like the Searchers by not calling it a day.

The concert was enjoyable, I found especially entertaining was the Liverpool British Invasion, especially the singers from BadFinger and the Hollies. If these 2 singers had their own show I would definitely attend.

  • Memories - can be beautiful and yet . . .

by goldenmouldie on 2009-11-14Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 3 out of 5

Up front? Enjoyed the show - not as footstompin' etc. as other oldies shows I've been too. First part with British Invasion started off - very off-key accompanied by instrumental mistakes - - - however, into the sets - vocals and instruments improved. Especially liked Badfinger - very true to the original songs and a great, strong voice! Gary Lewis and the Playboys - surprised me - I remember them as schtichy - still are - but Gary's voice is strong and they never stopped song-after-song - great. Only recommendation I have is: turn down the lead vocals sound a bit - Gary's speaking voice is so loud and strong - didn't need to amplify it to wake up the bears on Grouse Mountarin! Good Show!
