Get Together Festival

Since 2013, the Get Together festival — a partnership between Vancouver, British Columbia party promoters Blueprint and Live Nation — has been giving EDM fans in Western Canada good reason to bust out of hibernation mode and shake off woes of the cold Winter season on the dance floor. The inaugural edition was held at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum with a bill headlined by Dutch electro-house DJ Hardwell and British beatmakers Above & Beyond, and the event's success would spawn an annual local tradition held each Family Day weekend (the holiday observed in select Canadian provinces in mid-February), attracting such notable names as U.K. trance-master Gareth Emery, Aussie electro producer Will Sparks, and Dutch deity Armin van Buuren. In December 2014, an offshoot Get Together festival was introduced in Edmonton, Alberta, scheduled smack-dab in that traditional Boxing Week dead zone between Christmas and New Year's Eve; headlined by Russian EDM icon Zedd. The Edmonton iteration of Get Together is now an annual two-day blowout, with some 6,000 revelers taking over the Shaw Centre in the last week of December. The 2018 lineup is topped by American dancehall/pop polymath Diplo, who's coming off another banner year that saw him release the celeb-stacked ‘California' EP, a spiritual sequel of sorts to his moody 2004 album ‘Florida' that likewise showcased the DJ/producer's more introspective side (with the help of special guests like Santigold, DRAM, and Lil Yachty). His subsequent collaboration with Ellie Goulding and Swae Lee on the single "Close to Me" shows he can still drop a tropically tinged pop banger whenever the mood strikes. At Get Together, Diplo shares the bill with American bass bomber Illenium, British trap technician TroyBoi, and Australian DJ/singer/producer triple-threat Alison Wonderland, among others. And with a lineup like that, you'll probably need to stay in on New Year's Eve just to recover.

    Blessed idea to be

by Yourlocalspiritualsister on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

I think this event was well organized and put together. I had no problems both days. Maybe next year we can set up some more things to take photos at :) other than that it was a good time. Thank you everyone for all your help and hard work.

    The Sound system.

by Shay on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

Honestly day 1 was pretty good! The lasers were phenomenal but the sound system they used was horrible. I don’t know if they needed more or what happened but the sound was muffled and you couldn’t really hear what was happening unless you were very close to the front. I also think that they should have mixed up the lineups a little but having such a bass heavy line up the first day and no bass music the next was not the best experience we stayed for 2 hours then ended up leaving. Overall the sound system was the most disappointing and what’s a festival without good sound? Nothing.

    Be better guys

by Mel on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

The sound quality was NOT very good. Sounded distorted. And male presence was disrespectful to the ladies. It’s a look don’t touch type is show. The steroid junkies the first night was unreal.

    G2G 2022

by J on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

Was pretty disappointed that they were asking people to throw away vapes, chapsticks, lipsticks etc. or asking them to go back and put it in their jackets at coat check just to add on another 20 minutes to get into the event by going through the coat check line and bag check line again. 7 years of raving and I’ve never had a problem bringing in my vape with the pod already in it, or lipstick until this event.

    Terrible

by Nick on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

Getting my inhaler taken away cause it wasn't sealed was unacceptable, I need that to breathe thank god my other friend was able to "sneak" it in. Getting my lip balm taken as well while I'm in accutane is terrible, my lip balm is life while I'm on this stuff. Not sure why you guys are taking away people generic stuff. How about you guys find the drugs and not steal my medical stuff. Walking in they had some pretty lights but that's about it. The amount of dead/wasted space in there was laughable. Atleast put in another stage or something else in there more deco or something. Leaving was a joke. I left at 1:30 and didn't leave coat check till about 2:40. There was only 6 people working that seemed lost and confused. You guys need way more staff at coat check. I can't imagine what it was like 3. Cause when I left at 2:30 that line was huge! Put big signs saying red ticken line only or blue cause a lot of people got turned away when they got to the front to onlyngo back on the line in another section

    G2G 2022

by Taylor on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

I had a lot of fun I personally think this event was set up way better than scream (I know they’re different companies) I could actually get a drink, & there were more interactive things to do plus food was offered. I thoroughly enjoyed G2G this year & I think blueprint is awesome!

    Smaller than expected

by A on 2022-12-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

Usually expo center raves have multiple stages, this time was just one stage. Way smaller crowd than expected so it was nice having no drink lines, but the crowd vibe was a bit off. We ended up not going for the second night. Plus parking was dumb. They made us tap to pay, didnt offer a receipt, didnt tell us we had to be out by 10am. We looked all over the sites and teied calling and messaging and got no replies. When we went to get the car around 5 they gave us shit for being late. Then tried to not let my friend out cause she didnt have a recipt. Worst rave ive been to thus far

    Good but

by Johnny EDM on 2019-12-29Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly Shaw Conference Centre) - Edmonton

production was great. sound was good. only issue I had was entering the venue first day and no VIP line was labelled or present. I always get VIP to get through the line expeditiously. that definitely didn't happen. Paying more money for a ticket that by definition should have these perks only makes sense. poor set up first day was a let down. no security or venue employee had an answer for us and only said "this is the only line"

    Pretty good

by Nate on 2019-12-29Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly Shaw Conference Centre) - Edmonton

A lot of fun but last year was almost 3 times better. The artists were better, the crowd was more lively and larger but overall it was still a lot of fun and I’m definitely going to go again next year

    Get Together 2019

by Chevygirl_96 on 2019-12-29Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly Shaw Conference Centre) - Edmonton

Amazing experience yet again! My partner and I go every year and it is always so much fun! The music was great, people were always friendly, medium sized water tanks were always filled so you can just grab a glass and go, bathrooms were maintained (at least the ladies were. Men... not so much). All in all it was a great weekend with so many happy vibes. Will be back again next year for sure!

Not as good as years past

by LinC on 2019-12-29Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly Shaw Conference Centre) - Edmonton

Two stages is better than one. Especially when the first stage on day one, the set was a little whacked. Going from hard style to vibing beats. Day two artists were so much better. But I do miss the double stage for when your not liking the first artist.

    Rave life is good life

by Be11abean on 2019-12-29Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly Shaw Conference Centre) - Edmonton

Loved the whole night. The harm reduction center needs to be bigger and have bean bag chairs other than that best two days ever!

Very disorganized. Breaks were too long between artists and the show ended way earlier than it was supposed to. Music was good though.
