About

Childish is a mark of creative rebirth for the relatively private Daniel Goldstein, better known publicly as Lane 8 -- a document of self-discovery that's resulted in his most meaningful music to date. These ten songs are the culmination of Goldstein's decade-plus long career as Lane 8, which has been balanced with a personal life full of music, art, family, and the joy that creativity so often generates.

The title - and concept - was spawned through Goldstein's observing his kids as they grew older and more artistically curious in their forms of play. "Our kids had gone from being very small to being real people," he muses." It was inspiring to watch them become creative--drawing, crafts, bead projects, silly songs -- in this very innocent and pure way. It also made me realize my own process had deviated so far from that. I was thinking too much about the results and not enough about experiencing the joy of creativity. I realized I can just make an album for the pure enjoyment of it, without worrying too much how it will be received or even if it will work at my shows."

Altogether, these songs form a deeply personal artistic statement from Goldstein. "I set out to make music that was for myself, first and foremost--music that, in that moment, was what I was really excited about. From my perspective, it brings together a lot of the things that I've touched on in individual songs but hadn't necessarily put all together on an album."

  • Lane 8 is always the best

by Stookie on 2024-09-10Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

He puts on a great show and the venue is amazing. I wish there was a solution for buying alcohol, the lineups are ridiculous but everything else is perfect.

  • Without doubt, still a fav to see live

by YaS on 2024-09-10Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Liked the idea of no phone, however the oine up to get it unlocked was long. prefer after party to be in a better club like celebrities. A better variety of drinks. Other than that I had a great time

  • Brilliant visuals

His Music may not be my jam, but it was admittedly well executed with style and energy. The visuals though were next level - worth the price of admission just to experience the lights!

  • Lane8 incredible; phone policy=terrible

by JW on 2024-09-09Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Lane8 is incredible and will always be. Phones being locked up was a step to far.

  • Great show

Thanks for the great show! Really enjoyed the opener from Qrion. My only complaint is the "This Never Happened" element to the show. While I get what you were going for and didn't take and personal photos/videos myself, it seemed to be selectively enforced and I saw plenty of people using their cameras to record the show.

  • Best. Lane 8 show. Ever.

3rd time seeing him in Van and the venue, the way the weather turned out, his incredible 3 hour journey of a set was … WOW. and the engagement we witnessed from those two dudes from LA?? Can’t repeat that but when he comes again we’ll try 😜
