This was everything one expected: disco music of the classic era (1975-1981, give or take a year), and a beautiful audience of folks in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Everyone was lovely, friendly and looked fabulous in their glitzy tops and shiny shoes. The Commodore has the best dance floor in metro Vancouver.
Lots of ABBA but 40% was not disco (top 40 70s and 80s) Essentially he was a wedding dj (the songs were barely mixed together). Disappointing because there are SO MANY great disco songs.
Super fun dance party with fun people but there were a lot of dancers around us with confused looks saying” this isn’t disco” It was still a fun great party but more disco music would have made it 5 stars!
My friends and I had a blast but we were only told the event started at 8pm with no specific end time so we thought it will end at 2am (time the venue typically closes). Having thought it ended later, we didn’t get there until 11pm. The event ended around 12:30am so we were only able to enjoy it for a short 1.5hour. If we knew it ended at 12:30am, we would have arrived earlier
Very good a night to listen to some decent music ! There should be more nights like this !
I had even more fun than I thought I would. It was a mixed-aged crowd and everyone was friendly. We were all just interested in being with friends, having fun, and doing lots of dancing. But, I'm glad I wore ear plugs :)
Too late a start time and not enough Disco music. Majority of music seemed like it went by request. I also would have thought there would have been an actual DJ interacting with the crowd. could have done this in my basement.
The event was fun enough overall, but not what we expected. Only about 1/3 of the songs they played actually qualify as Disco! Some of the non-Disco stuff was great, like Katrina & the Waves "Walkin on Sunshine"and B52's "Love Shack", so I definitely danced to them. But they also played a heavy Motley Crue song, a rap-type thing near the end of the night, and all sorts of stuff that was fine, but not Disco. Not sure I'd bother going again.
fun but a little disappointing in that they barely played any disco music! it was a whole lot of 80's remixes and just a few disco classics. I'd go again but only if they play more disco which is what I expected to get for my money.
