Gimme Gimme Disco Tickets

Amazing opportunity to get dressed up and dance the night away. So cool to be with a broad spectrum of Disco lovers surrounded by happy faces and lots of glitter with our group of 9. Unfortunately, the consensus was the music (DJ) was a miss...No BeeGee's, Donna Summers etc. It felt like the literal point was missed. DJ never said one word to get the crowd connected and felt awkward. All in all, glad we went to be with a huge crowd who supported the era genre and made the most of it.

It was a wonderful night. A great excuse to get glammed and throw a disco party! I just loved how everyone made an effort with costumes or disco/ABBA themed outfits & the different age groups that were there having a good time was really fab to see!

DJ didn’t really have much mixing skills or even really transition at all, more of a “press-play” DJ. Although good tunes that were expected. Nothing crazy in terms of visuals. The ticket came with a “complimentary beverage” although the only bartender that gave this out made me wait over an hour until 11:15 PM before he finally gave them out. Not sure if this was a venue issue or a promoter issue, but frustrating nonetheless. I heard from friends who went to the “regular” non-new years eve Gimme Gimme disco that the show was much better and with a better DJ. Either way, it was a decently good time, not too crowded and fun place to spend new years, although has room for improvement before I come back for another.

The DJ, vibe, and sound were great!! I’d be back again. However, the floor was treacherous. The dance floor was so sticky that it caused people to trip (along with ice, fruit, and glasses). If you moved to the carpet around the same floor it was equally treacherous for catching stilettos….First time ever having that happen that badly at any venue before. Hopefully they will come up with a fix sooner than later….otherwise we might not be regulars as we’d hoped…

DJ was super amateur. No skill really. No mixes. Just a bad blend from song to song. With no understanding of the genre.. And played about 15 songs from Abba. He just doesn't have the skill or the knowledge. So many other local better DJs. It was like a 14yr old trying to DJ his parents party. But the venue was fun. People made for a great atmosphere.

The venue at the commodore was great, but the sound was off and the dj kept repeating the same thing every few songs - “how are we Vancouver I came all the way from LA for this..” and honestly didn’t do much…barely even faded from one song to the next. The lights were also really bright white a lot, almost like at the bar at the end of the night lol…could have been more colourful for a disco? Last time they had had a very energetic dj as well as videos of ABBA and 70s movies/other artists on the big screens. This time it just showed “gimme gimme disco” on the screen as an image. Overall song choice was ok but definitely not as good as last November 2022… :(

Wasn’t long enough for the amount paid. The DJ wasn’t very enthusiastic.

I really enjoyed myself at the disco night. It was great to see everybody dressed up, and the energy of the crowd was fantastic. You can’t beat the Commodore for the dance floor and the way it’s laid out I only wish the DJ played more authentic disco otherwise a great event.

When they did play disco it was great, but the DJ started too play some 80s midway through the night (Cindy Lauper, etc) and by the end of the night it was 3 non disco songs for every disco song... the last 2 songs were Piano Man by Billy Joel and Bohemian Rhapsody, are you kidding me?! There are sooo many disco songs to choose from, fast and slow, there was really no need to play so much non disco. A bit disappointing. Also the online request system didn't work, we both tried several times and Vancouver didn't come up in the list of available cities.

I hate to be this person…. But I could have been a better DJ with a pre-made spotify 70’s disco list. Nicki Minaj and LMFAO are not 70’s disco.

Loved how much everyone was loving their time, the DJ had the best energy it was impossible to not have a good time, every time you would look up at him you’d have a smile on your face

It was awesome, great but it was only till 12am but always Gimmie Gimme Disco was always till 2 am, and you did not Living on a Prayer and Sweet Caroline etc...

Music wasn't bad considering it was Disco/House but there were a lot of great songs that were missed. Great to see such a good turnout.

The music was all I hope from a Retro Disco Party!!! Two and a half hours of many ABBA classics + much more, from Earth, Wind and Fire, Village People, Donna Summer, Bee Gees, MJ... etc. The majority of people in their 20s and 30s dressed in disco-inspired outfits. The vibe was cheerful and enthusiastic! Everyone had a great time dancing and singing all along! I will definitely come back with more friends next time.

Very fun but they should just call it Gimme ABBA. Could be a fun opportunity to play more interesting disco tracks beyond the Maia Mia soundtrack if the DJ expands his range a bit.

Venue was excellent and for the most part so was the music and the concept itself. However, the DJ didn’t need to drop “f-bombs” in every sentence he uttered and didn’t need to remix any of those classic songs. It took away from the experience. Less would have been more….way more.

A lot of staff, very professional and reliable, especially security. DJ playing popular hits of 80s. Very nice young audience. I definitely recommend!
