    Fun night with Glen Campbell

by Chumley on 2009-07-28McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

A fun show where Glen was having as good a time as the audience. He sang all the classics, showcased some stellar guitar work and lived up to his legend status. After casually strolling on stage, he launched into "Gentle on My Mind", "Galveston", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Try a Little Kindness" and "Wichita Lineman" - you definitely don't want to show up late - and with an incredible finale including "Southern Nights" and "Rhinestone Cowboy" nobody wanted the evening to end. A great night for everyone.

    King of the Road

by KaLoPo on 2009-07-28McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

Did all the old hits (Rhinestone Cowboy, Wichita Lineman, Gentle on my Mind, By the Time I get to Phoenix), etc., paid tribute to other artists (George Jones, Johnny Cash), had a few singalongs, shook hands with the audience, chatted a bit about his life and the old times, and everyone was happy.

    Classic Country at it's best!

by debg on 2009-07-28McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

Glen Campbell put on an amazing concert last night at McPhillips Street Station. Between he and his daughter, Debbie, they sang 25 songs in a 2 hours period. That's quite a bit crammed into that time frame, but even more incredible when you're 73 years old! He sang all his hits including Gentle on my Mind, Southern Nights, Rhinestone Cowboy, Wichita Lineman, Dream of the Everyday Housewife and many more. He occasionally needed to use a prompter for some of the songs, but did a fabulous job for his age. He needed no help from a prompter when he played guitar - his fingers played like those of a man half his age. He told stories to the audience and it was just a warm, feel-good entertaining show.

    Entertainment Icon entertains !

by Reserve325 on 2009-07-28McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

A full house of those who grew up with the music and entertainment of Glen Campbell were treated to a exhaustive list of musical memories by a gentle giant of the industry. Despite his 73 years, he played one song after another, much to the delight of the crowd, mixing his own hits with a host of others including Hank Williams. A gifted musician, he showcased his significant guitar-playing prowess throughout the evening with specific renditions of Mason Williams "Classical Gas" and even the William Tell Overture. His daughter Debbie ensured there was no break in the entertainment by performing a number of classic country tunes and joined her father in a number of duets. All in all, a great night of entertainment appreciated with a resounding standing ovation.

An accomplished guitar picker the crowd heard Mason William's Classical Gas & Lone Ranger theme song.
