    Polished conventional production

by Operaholic on 2012-12-24The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Having seen more Nutcrackers than I can recall over the years, I was pleasantly surprised by this production. The staging is straightforward and takes no risks, but the dancers were well-rehearsed, the choreography generally polished, and Clara was surprisingly good considering her youth. The orchestra was a bit thin, under-rehearsed and poorly miked, and the dry acoustics of the theatre didn't help, but Tchaikovsky's remarkable score managed to survive more or less intact. It was generally a pleasant, if overpriced, evening.

The principal dancers wereabsoluely amazing . The children were also great as were the rest of the dancers. However the principal dancers blew us away with their skill and grace.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I took my Mom to see this ballet. I was mesmerized from beginning to end. It was over much too soon.

Those little mice stole the show!!

by VanBroadway on 2010-12-27The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Overall, this was a top quality performance. Excellent choreography which cleverly incorporated the children of all ages. It was highly entertaining. In fact, the stars of Pacific Northwest Ballet weren't even necessary.....those talented children stole the show!

    Nutcracker spectacular!

by GrannyLolo on 2010-12-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

What a dazzling and delightful performance! This ballet was filled with humour, colour, magic and shimmering costumes. From the scampering calvary of mice to the twinkling delicate sugar plum fairies, the dancing was enchanting and breathtaking. We loved every minute of this show and hope it will become an annual Christmas tradition for our family.

    The Nutcracker

by Tasmania on 2010-12-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My first time at a "proper" ballet did not disappoint. The dancers, costumes, sets and music were all beautiful, and I was mesmerised from beginning to end. We left feeling up-lifted and "Christmassy" , and will certainly make it a Christmas tradition for our family. The professional production is a credit to Vancouver's arts scene.

I loved the Goh Ballet's Nutcracker

by Loolapalooza on 2010-12-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Watching The Goh Ballet's Nutcracker was a break from leaden day-to-day living. The sets were other-worldly wonderful, the action non-stop, the dancing invigorating, the costumes fairy-like, the magic tricks spell-binding and the music lyrical. The mix of ages of dancers added depth to the performance. The children were lovable. I've seen the Nutcracker a few times and this was the most captivating performance so far.

    Act 1 was the best!!

by justcharmed1 on 2010-12-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I had enjoyed watching The Nutcracker this year. Act 1 was enjoyable, the party girls & boys are amazing. The battle scene was funny. Act 2, the Russian dancers "cheers!!" and Mother Ginger you can't miss!! I turned into a little girl as I watched the guest "Principal" dancers perform. The Magician & Clara made the show come to life. I will see again next year.

Wonderful! Lots of participation from children. Really good children's ballet. Our friends were worried that their 6 year old son would be fidgety and they would have to leave part way through. But, their son was on the edge of his seat throughout. Really enjoyed his first ballet. The costumes, dancing, set, and pace of the Goh Nutcracker made it one of the most enjoyable Nutcrackers we have seen.

The Goh Ballet did not go

by Wdaniel on 2010-12-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

While the costumes, colours, and music were excellent, this performance was lacking. As an avid Nutcracker fan, seeing over 30 performances, this was average. Last year's performance was done much better. Rearranging the plot was not done successfully, one of the main dancers fell.. timing was off. They just seemed rushed and unprepared.
