Passionate performers with obvious talent. Big onstage presence!
Both acts were alright but sound was questionable in both guitars and vocals. Not sure if it was Massey hall or the workers on the sound boards but a lot of room for improvement. Govt Mule played a solid 2 1/2 hours but too much “jamming” and not enough songs. Wouldn’t see either again
Totally worth the wait to see Gov’t Mule & Big Sugar. Been a fan of Gov’t Mule for almost 30 years, and have never seen them live. Bad timing I guess. Warren Haynes & the band took us on a fantastic musical journey, what a treat! Hope it’s not another 30 years before I see them again. Would love to see the Mule tour Canada more often. But Canada is a lot bigger than a Gov’t Mule if you know what I mean.😉 Massey Hall is always a great venue to see a concert. I’m still basking in Concert contentment from this show. 👍
Big Sugar came on first and play most of their top hit songs, Gordie Johnson was in fine form and the drummer and bass player were top notch! Warren Haynes came on for the last half hour of Big Sugar’s set and was awesome. Set change, then Gov’t Mule came on and played for almost 2 1/2 hours non stop. Gordie joined for the last 3 or 4 numbers. Great value for the price. We got our money’s worth for sure!
I have a mobility issue and all ushers and security were there to assist and make sure I was good. It was an excellent night
Unfortunate muddled sound. With predictable licks.
The touring crew/house need to get off their butts and inquire how the PA system sounds in different areas. I could hear the gallery delay from the balcony… the stereo spread was poor due to the Center cluster on the main hang. And there was zero punch from the kick drum, sounded like there wasn’t even a mic on the drum. Other than that the band was amazing, excellent show.
So good. Best show ever. Really, it was absolutely awesome. No two ways about it.
Warren and Gorsie delivered a great show 3+ hours of guitar driven rock. Thanks for bringing the thunder
They came out strong and after the break they cranked it up even more
Warren Haynes & group were in fine form from start to finish... with the 2nd set truly showing off their diversity of both material & musicianship. This group not only writes some impeccable original tunes, but they are capable of reinventing cover tunes to the point that they come off sounding like originals... no mean feat! Warren's guitar complimented by his vocals & a 'locked in rhythm section' served up a bluesy rocking mix of tunes for almost 3 hours... the icing on the cake had to be the keyboard talents & occasional 2nd guitar of their 4th member - offering up some very tasty fills on the Hammond B3! Bring 'em back soon!!
Warren and his band put on another fantastic show. I have seen him many times, and each time he simply amazes me. Like a fine wine...................It was a long time since Gov't. Mule graced our city, and I certainly hope it won't be so long next time. A show not to miss!
Amazing! They played for 3 hours. Will be going to see them again.
I expected Govt Mule at the Ryman to be the perfect storm of a killer band in a storied venue. Sadly, the sound was distractingly bad. I couldn't hear Warren's vocals and the bottom end of the bass and drums was just a mess. Maybe it was because of my seating and my poor assumption that a seat on the main floor at The Ryman would be the place to be. I've seen the Mule before and was pumped to see them again. I felt no connection this time. I only stayed past the first set in hopes that it was going to get better. We left shortly after intermission. I wasn't feeling the love from the band. They seemed rather disinterested. But, I haven't seen this line up before, maybe that's the vibe they have now. The music was solid ofcourse, but short of the light show they're wasn't anything pulling me to the stage. The crowd was showing them all kinds of love, lots of smiles and bobbing heads. So maybe it's just me, but this def wasn't the show experience I was hoping for. Scofield was a cool addition. He really seemed to be digging his time on stage and brought some life to the night for me. Just not enough to keep me there. I'll go see them again in hopes that it hits me the way it has before.
Incredible! plus 3 Nevilles, 2 Little Feat, Blind Boys of Alabama, Johnny Winter, and the ever incredible Sonny Lambreth! In true Govt Mule style didnt finish till 3!
Warren Hayes is one of the best guitarists there is or ever was. It was a real treat to watch.
Gov't Mule and Wareen frickin Haynes rock. Warren and the boys played solid and sounded great for over 4 hours with only a fifteen minute break in the middle. My girlfriend who is more into punk and metal kept looking at me all night with a smile on her face saying "These guys are awesome". Govt Mule Rocks.....Period.. All business. I love it
They never disappointment. Another stellar performance by Warren and Co. Great first set jams. A wonderful Railroad Boy opened. A great 'Have Mercy on the Criminal' ad a set closer of '30 Days in the Hole' Wow. Second set with Larger than Life Smokestack Lightning. Recorded the show and got both set lsits from the soundboard guy. Worth the trip from Vancouver. Definitely.
