I was bummed out when I missed seeing this in Broadway. It apparently finished its run 3 months before I went to New York. So when I heard it was coming to town, I immediately got tickets.
So glad I got tickets. I've seen Green Day in concert, at least once, possibly twice (can't remember). I really like the 2 albums "American Idiot" was based on. Also, I'm a big musical theatre fan. (That trip to New York consisted of me going to 7 Broadway shows).
Suffice it to say, I knew the songs. I liked the story. The cast was excellent. They all had strong voices and solid performances. There were only a couple of times that the music drowned out the voices, but for the most part, there was a good mix. I was also amused by the "conductor/keyboardist" at the side of the stage. But overall, a good ensemble cast.
This show appeals to those who like theatre and Green Day, and that's me!
