Hadestown (Touring) Tickets

The staging, music, and choreography was so good we could have been on Broadway, not the NAC. Have seen many, many musicals (NY, Toronto, Montral, Ottawa) and this was one of the best. The story line, although a classic Greek Tragedy, superbly presented and the music was not only contemporary but actually timely. Thank you for putting it on the road. You have raised your bar with this one.

A stunning performance! I’ve listened to the soundtrack countless times before finally being able to see the show performed. I was floored! The I thoroughly enjoyed my time. The only criticism is there are some very bright lights directed at the audience, sometimes making it difficult to see. Overall, an amazing performance by the players and something I will be seeing again.

The sound quality wasn't good and it was hard to tell what the story was about. Basically the negative review in the Ottawa Citizen says it all.

Didn’t know what to expect, was very pleasantly surprised. It was a great play, the songs were amazing and the actors were fantastic!

There was a problem with the microphones during the first half of this show which resulted in it being so loud, it was extremely difficult to understand what was happening. Very disappointing as I had heard such glowing reviews.

What a spectacular show. The performances were exceptional, the music incredible, the set perfection. The sound was a little off for some reason, I think the sound board just needed a bit of tweaking since some of the louder, shriller vocals were hard to make out, but that didn’t hold back to level of talent on stage. I think this show might have even eclipsed Hamilton in my books. If you’re in the fence about seeing this one: just go. You’ll not be disappointed.

I was not even familiar with this musical when a friend invited me to go. What great choreography, amazing music and a fun story with a great message. Loved the set and the ambiance of the show. Don't miss it!

We just loved the show. We were one row from the stage with no one sitting in front of us so you could really experience the intensity of the performance. The opening and closing was very original and we were very impressed with the song writing, the quality of the cast and their versatility. All seemed to not only sing but dance and play a musical instrument. The band on stage was terrific and the set was spectacular. We loved the performances of Hades, Persephonie, Hermes and the Fates in particular. Would recommend to anyone who loves live theatre. .

This touring production of Hadestown was absolutely excellent, my entire family was absorbed in the show from the first moment, even those unfamiliar with the songs and story. Top-notch!

Hadestown has a timeless story, great music and musicians, great cast, great set design, great lighting design, and the whole thing was ruined by a horrible sound mix, all highs, no bass; some of the key roles were incomprehensible because they’re vocals were so high pitched. Either the theatre’s sound system was too inferior for such a great show, or the sound operator is incompetent. Either way, go watch the show, but definitely not at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

The actors absolutely nailed their performances, the story was great. It was a fantastic experience! I highly recommend seeing this show if you can.

I thought the singing and acting was excellent. But what really stood out for me was the creative interpretation of a classic.

We were wondering why there was no synopsis in the program but we found out. Cuz there is no real plot. It was a group of very talented people who had nothing to work with. The music was uninteresting and unimpressive. The set never changed, the choreography was boring. The story was stupid. We stuck it out to the end but 4 people in front of us, 2 people beside us, and 2 people behind us did not come back after intermission so I know it wasn’t just us. And we were sitting near the front in the orchestra so these people were throwing away big money by leaving. We LOVE musicals and are happy to see even middle of the road ones but Hadestown was definitely the worst one we’ve been to. My son, who was with me, is a musical theatre performer and we would never want to show disrespect. We could appreciate the talent on stage but if the musical isn’t good, then even their talent can’t save it. We just can’t figure out how it won Tony awards.

The show was amazing! The actors brought their own flare to the roles that made them feel like their broadway siblings while bringing something nuanced and fresh, especially if you have been listening to the soundtrack as I have. My only complaint was with the venue. If you are plus size (3x and up), i would recommend getting balcony seats at the NAC. the seats in the aisles have ridged wooden arms that'll really dig in. But that really is the only complaint! See the show, it was amazing!
