About

HANABIE. is a metalcore band from Tokyo, Japan. The four female members — vocalist Yukina, guitarist Matsuri, bassist Hetsu and drummer Kaede — met in high school and began making music in 2015, combining the loud, brash sounds of metalcore with Harajuku-style aesthetics. Initially a cover band, the foursome released their first single, “Crash Over,” independently in 2016. Kaede exited the band shortly thereafter, leading to the band cycling through a number of drummers. HANABIE.’s self-released debut album, Girl’s Reform Manifest, arrived in 2021 and two years later, they signed a record deal with Epic Records Japan. The band released their major label debut, Reborn Superstar!, in the summer of 2023 after announcing Chika as their new drummer.

    No esperaba una banda tan entretenida y dinamica, me encantaron, ojala pueda volver a ir a otro concierto de ellas. muy buena presentacion y playlist.

    I would fully recommend attending one of their concerts if you get the chance. All of the band members of Hanabie were really high energy and fun to watch. Even the warm up acts, Left to Suffer and Outline in Colour, were great. It was a great concert and the ticket price of about $50 had a lot of quality and affordability. Watch them if they come to an area near you. You won’t be disappointed.

    Outline in Color was first on stage and delivered a great performance and interaction with the crowd. Left to Suffer was next and brought the level up a notch with more crowd surfers and mosh pits and great chuggy riffs. And finally Hanabie, I watched plenty of live performance on the web and I thought I was ready for this. Otaku was the opening song and when Yukina first growls came it sent shivers all over my body. The intensity of her voice is breathtaking. And the crowd surfing continued and the wall of death during Tousou, the 2 dudes in Banana suit surfing and one with Mexican wrestling mask. Matsuri live singing is fabulous, Hettsu going back and forth from left to right interacting with the crowd. Chika was hidden in the back with almost no light on her, she was a beast on the drums as expected. And then something new, Yukina showing the crowd Sunrise Miso-Soup dance for the encore. They followed with LCG and finally Sentimental Heroine. It was time for the photo with the crowd with the Canadian flag and off the stage they went leaving me wanting more of their charismatic performance. I will definitely go see them again when they are back in town.

    More Japanese Bands should make the effort to travel to the US and Canada. They'd be surprised with the level of support in the West. So happy Hanabei came to Toronto. Looking forward to the next one.

    This show was absolutely amazing, fr9m start yo finish, with a very engaged crowd. But it REALLY picked up during the 2nd band and went I t9 overdrive when HANABIE took the stage. They had such amazing stage presence and the crowd was absolutely nuts for them. From the first row to the back of the floor there were multiple walls of death and circle pits, with ceaseless general moshing the whole way through. With energy and audience engagement like that I absolutely yearn to see them again.
