Hannah Gadsby has been a comedian for more than a decade but it was 2018 when the world took notice when their ground breaking comedy special launched on Netflix and stopped the comedy world in its tracks.
Nanette earned Hannah an Emmy, a Peabody, an Australian Academy Award, and the Most Outstanding Show awards at both the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Since then, Hannah did two more solo stand-up comedy shows which toured the world - selling out houses across the USA, Australia and Europe, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, the Kennedy Centre, the London Palladium and the Opera House at BAM.
Hannah's second Netflix special, Douglas launched in 2020, and their third, Something Special landed on Netflix May 2023. Douglas was nominated for an Emmy and won an Australian Academy Award as did Something Special.
In 2022, they also managed to publish their New York Times Best Selling memoir, Ten Steps To Nanette in more than ten languages, chatted with the likes of Colbert and Fallon and hosted a gala at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival.
Hannah also co-curated an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, taking part in the global celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Picasso's death featuring works from the Musée Picasso in Paris alongside those from the Brooklyn Museum's Feminist Art Collection.
Hannah's fourth special with Netflix was recorded in 2023 and launched in 2024, recorded in London, the Gender Agenda bought together gender queer comedians from around the world.
Hannah Gadsby is brilliant! Entertaining and thought-provoking.
As expected Hannah Gadsby delivered a smart, cutting, and hilarious performance. What I love about her is her ability to lay out a number of ideas and then deftly she ties them all together and hits you over the head. Brilliant.
Intelligent, brilliant, hard-hitting humour. Hannah Gadsby is the future of comedy.
Amazing show Love the style delivery and layers that make this show outstanding in every way Keep up the stellar work as it is much appreciated and something I feel we all need to laugh while being brought together
Hannah Gadsby is hilarious and thank goodness because The Orpheum should be demolished. At the very least it should come with a warning that the seats are (as hard to believe as this is) even MORE uncomfortable than an airplane's. There is negative legroom. And if your butt is even a tiny bit larger than that of a pre-pubescent child - forget about comfort. Overall, would not recommend. But Hannah Gadsby is pure joy.
Hannah is hilarious but also so real. I laughed from the moment she entered the stage to when she left it. Her honesty about herself, coupled with her scathing observations of the patriarchy and misogyny make her a truly great performer.
Not enough superlatives to say how fabulous this show is - smart, witty, complex, thought-provoking, hilarious, surprising, heart-warming, biting, on-point, and so many more. Don't miss it!
I bought tickets for the 24th of Feb, then I was sent an email stating that my tickets that said Feb 24 right on them were good for the 25th. I had to cancel a dinner reservation for six on the 24th and another guest had to take a day off to make the show. Hannah was funny but I missed a couple of her jokes because I didn't understand Australian slang well enough. I chuckled many times, as her humour was good for chuckling, but no real belly laughs. She had very good observational humour.
I laughed the whole time (and I don’t even like stand-up comedy!). She is a genius.
Brilliant and hilarious! My face hurt from laughing so hard!
I haven’t laughed this hard in a while. Hannah Gadsby’s ability to mix serious issues with humour brings about feelings of joy while opening our minds. She may make you feel uncomfortable because she doesn’t shy away from anything, but what’s wrong with that? You may just grow up a little bit in the process.
Hannah Gadsby was brilliant from beginning to end in every way. Her content, timing, delivery, message, and humour were amazing. She is such a professional! The evening was absolutely wonderful.
Hannah has a unique delivery. She‘s seemless in delivery, very ‘real’, honest, sharp in her take on current times and very very funny! Mic drop. But I‘m gonna bend down and put it down because....
I thoroughly enjoyed Hannah Gadsby’s show. She is sharp, witty and as woke as they come. I also love her application of art history to her shows— its always so brilliant and hilarious. Will buy tickets to her shows for as long as I live. Must see comedian.
Funny, fun, fierce. An amazing writer and performance delivery. Everything was so tight and beautifully woven together. Humour but those amazing moments of poignance where the audience collectively sits in silence "we must do better" just gutted me. I'm a groupie now. (And yes, I loved Douglas even more than Nanette...I'm glad HG has less trauma now as material!)
Hannah's show was PHENOMENAL! Hands down the best comedy show I've ever seen. I laughed uncontrollably almost the entire time and was impressed with how relevant and poignant her material was. Stupendous!
Hannah is a unique voice, and she has opinions that will make you squirm a little bit. But let her words in, and have an honest think about the topics she is raising. And enjoy her lecture series on fine art. I would watch her do a show entirely about art :)
So incredibly thoughtful, somewhat provoking but ultimately hilarious! We Laughed until our cheeks hurt. Good old fashion belly laugh. Must see!
Yup, it was great, would def see her again. I have to use up 50 characters to leave a review so here are some more letters
The show was incredibly entertaining and hilarious. I’ll remember “Douglas” for a long time. 10 out of 10 would see this again.
